Description
Vigor 5.1 Hi-Capa Spring Pistol (V305 – Metal – Blue)
The Vigor 5.1 Hi-Capa, model V305, is a metal spring-powered airsoft pistol finished in blue. It takes its styling from the 5.1 Hi-Capa, the long-slide competition pistol that is one of the most popular platforms in airsoft, and puts that look into a simple, inexpensive replica that needs no gas or batteries.
Vigor makes budget spring replicas for newcomers and target shooters. The metal construction of the V305 sets it apart from all-plastic spring pistols at a similar level, giving it more weight in the hand and a sturdier feel, which many shooters find makes it steadier to aim.
How it works
Racking the slide cocks the pistol, drawing back a piston and compressing the spring inside. Pulling the trigger releases the spring, which drives the piston forward and fires a single BB on a burst of air. Rack again for the next shot. Because there is no gas, performance does not drop off on cold days, and there is nothing to refill or recharge.
Metal build and handling
The added weight of a metal pistol helps to settle the sights and reduces wobble when squeezing the trigger, which is useful for anyone learning to shoot accurately. The 5.1 Hi-Capa layout, with its long slide and wide grip, is very familiar in airsoft, so it is a good way to get used to the platform before considering a Hi-Capa gas pistol. The blue finish clearly identifies it as a replica.
Getting started
Set up a safe shooting area before your first session: a BB trap or a cardboard box filled with old cloth behind your target will catch most BBs and make them easy to sweep up afterwards. Choose a spot with nothing breakable behind the target and where nobody can walk into the line of fire. Start at a short distance, around five metres, and concentrate on a firm two-handed grip, a clear sight picture and a slow, steady squeeze of the trigger. Once your groups are tight, step back a few metres at a time. Load the magazine away from the shooting area, keep the muzzle pointed at the target or the ground, and remove the magazine and fire a clearing shot into the trap when you have finished.
Key features
- Spring-powered, cocked by racking the slide
- Metal construction for a solid, weighty feel
- Styled on the 5.1 Hi-Capa competition pistol
- Blue colour
- No gas or batteries required
- Reliable in any temperature
- Very low running costs and minimal maintenance
Compatibility
Uses standard 6mm BBs; lighter weights such as 0.12g or 0.20g generally suit spring pistols best. Although it is styled on the Hi-Capa, magazines and internal parts are specific to this spring model and will not interchange with Hi-Capa gas pistols. Check holster fit before relying on a Hi-Capa holster.
Care and maintenance
Do not store the pistol cocked, as this weakens the spring over time. Keep metal parts dry and give the outside an occasional wipe with a lightly oiled cloth to protect the finish, but keep oil out of the barrel. Use clean, seamless BBs and clear any jam with a cleaning rod, never by forcing the slide.
Who is it for?
Newcomers and target shooters who want a weighty, metal Hi-Capa-style pistol at a budget price, and anyone wanting a practice pistol that works whatever the weather.
Please note: Always wear suitable eye protection when using airsoft replicas, and make sure anyone nearby does too.
