Description
Clear Waggler 6BB
A waggler is a float attached to the line at the bottom end only, and it is one of the most widely used floats in coarse fishing. This clear version has a transparent body, which makes it much harder for fish to see, particularly in clear or shallow water and on bright days. The tip remains visible to you, so you still get clear bite indication.
The float takes 6BB, a useful middle weight that lets you cast a reasonable distance and keeps the float stable in a light breeze or a slight tow. It is a good all-round float for roach, rudd, skimmers, tench and carp on stillwaters and slow-moving rivers.
Setting it up
Thread the line through the eye at the base of the float and lock it in place with split shot either side, or use a float adaptor for quick changes. Most of the shotting capacity goes around the base of the float as locking shot, with a few small shot spread down the line towards the hook to help the bait sink and show bites on the drop. Shot the float down so only the tip shows above the surface for the most sensitive indication.
Fishing it
Cast slightly beyond your feeding area and sink the line by dipping the rod tip under the surface and winding a few turns, which helps stop the wind dragging the float. Feed little and often with maggots, casters or pellets and watch the tip for bites. Adjust the depth until you find where the fish are feeding.
