Description
WSB Silver Wedge 56g
The WSB Silver Wedge 56g is the heaviest wedge we stock from WSB’s range. It is a compact, streamlined metal lure built for the longest casts and the deepest, fastest water, with a vibrating retrieve that imitates an injured fish and brings predators in to attack.
This size is aimed at shore anglers fishing big beaches, exposed rock marks and deep piers in rough conditions, as well as anglers fishing from boats who need a lure that gets down quickly.
Built for tough conditions
When the wind is in your face, the tide is running hard or the fish are feeding beyond normal casting range, a 56g wedge gives you the weight to reach them. It holds its line in strong currents and sinks quickly to the bottom, so you can search deep gullies and the edges of rough ground where bass, pollack and cod often feed.
From a boat or kayak it works well as a simple jig: drop it to the bottom, lift it smartly and let it flutter back down.
Using a heavy wedge safely
A lure of this weight puts real force into a cast, so use a rod and line designed for it, add a shock leader where needed, and always check that the area behind you is clear before casting.
Key features
- 56g heavy metal wedge
- The heaviest wedge in our WSB range
- Streamlined for the longest casts
- Sinks fast for deep, strong water
- Vibrating action imitates an injured fish
- Works from shore, boat and kayak
Compatibility
Fish it on a rod rated for 56g or more, such as a beach rod or heavy lure rod, with strong line and a shock leader suited to the casting weight. A strong swivel or snap link reduces line twist. Lighter Silver Wedges are available for calmer days and lighter rods.
Care and maintenance
Rinse the lure, hooks and fittings in fresh water after use in the sea and let them dry fully. Check the hooks, split rings and swivels regularly, as the extra weight and tougher fishing put more strain on them, and replace anything worn or rusty.
Who is it for?
For shore anglers who need maximum distance and depth on open beaches, rock marks and deep piers, and for boat and kayak anglers looking for a heavy metal jig.
Please note: Take care when handling hooked lures, and carry pliers or a disgorger for unhooking. Always check behind you before casting heavier lures.
