Description
Laylax Prometheus Non-Linear AEG Upgrade Spring MS110 (Aqua)
This is the Prometheus Non-Linear AEG upgrade spring in the MS110 rating, finished in aqua. It sits in the middle of the Non-Linear range, making it a popular choice for players who want a little more power than a typical stock spring while keeping the gearbox under reasonable strain.
LayLax is a long-established Japanese maker of airsoft parts, with sub-brands including Prometheus for internal upgrades, Nine Ball for gas pistol parts and First Factory for external and replacement parts.
How the Non-Linear spring differs
Instead of evenly spaced coils, the Non-Linear spring has an irregular pitch along its length. Laylax says that this eases wear on the gearbox and makes the spring compress more easily, and that it is heat-treated for strength and consistent compression. The main spring sets the replica’s power and also affects how quickly the gearbox cycles.
The aqua finish helps you identify the rating at a glance when the gearbox is open or the spring is in your parts box.
Choosing the MS110
Laylax grades its springs by an MS number, with higher numbers meaning stronger springs. How much power any spring gives depends on the cylinder, air seal, barrel and hop-up as well, so use the rating as a guide and confirm the result on a chronograph.
Fitting
On most AEGs you will need to open the gearbox, unless your replica has a quick-change spring guide. Photograph each stage, keep shims and small parts in order, and put a little grease on the spring guide before closing up. Test the replica with no BBs first, then have it chronographed against your site’s limits.
Key features
- Prometheus Non-Linear main spring
- MS110 rating
- Aqua finish for easy identification
- Irregular pitch design, per Laylax
- Aimed at easing gearbox wear
- Heat-treated for consistent compression
- Listed for standard AEGs
Compatibility
Laylax lists its Non-Linear springs for standard AEGs. Tokyo Marui Next Generation recoil models and some makers’ own gearbox designs use different springs or guides, so check your manual or contact us before ordering. Moving to a stronger spring puts extra load on the motor, gears and battery, so make sure the rest of the build is suited to it.
Care and maintenance
Store the replica uncocked so the spring is not left compressed. Keep spare springs dry, and replace a spring that has shortened noticeably or lost power. Chronograph the replica after any change to the internals.
Who is it for?
The MS110 suits players and technicians who want a moderate step up in an upgraded standard AEG, with a spring designed to be kind to the gearbox.
Please note: Spring guide and tools are not included. Always have your replica chronographed after fitting and before play.
