Description
PTS MultiTaskerTools Magpod Base Plate 3-Pack (Black)
The PTS Magpod is a replacement base plate that turns the bottom of a magazine into a stable shooting support. This pack contains three, in black, so you can fit them to a full set of magazines.
Resting the magazine on a barricade, a car bonnet or the ground is a common way to steady a rifle in a prone or supported position. A standard flat base plate can rock and slip, and the Magpod is designed to give a broader, grippier contact patch instead.
Design
PTS describes a body made from 15 per cent glass-fibre-reinforced PA6 nylon, with an over-moulded grippy base pad for traction on hard surfaces. The footprint is shaped to minimise rocking when the magazine is used as a monopod, and stippled side panels help your grip when pulling the magazine from a pouch. A dot-matrix area lets you mark each magazine with a number or symbol.
Each base plate is listed as about 75 x 45 x 35mm and about 60g. It replaces the standard floor plate and fills the space in front of it.
In use
Magpods also make it easier to grab and strip a magazine from a pouch, and the extra bulk at the base can help on reloads. Check that your pouches still fit the magazines with the base plate fitted.
