Description
ARES / Beryl Mod. 96 AEG (Black)
The ARES Beryl Mod. 96 is an electric replica of the Beryl wz. 96, the Polish assault rifle, finished in black. It brings an AK-derived Eastern European design that is less common on UK sites than the usual AK and M4 patterns, making it a good choice for players who like something a little different.
ARES is a Taiwanese manufacturer known for innovative electric replicas. The real Beryl was designed and produced by Fabryka Broni in Radom and was adopted by Poland in 1997, with serial production from 1999; it is described as the standard-issue service rifle of the Polish Armed Forces.
Design
The Beryl’s layout and operation follow the Eastern European tradition, with a safety resembling those of the AK family, and the real rifle has a top-mounted Picatinny rail for optical sights and a side-folding tubular metal stock, with later models using a collapsible stock. Our listing identifies this replica as the Mod. 96 in black; please ask us if you need specific details of its rail or stock configuration.
For milsim players, the Beryl is a natural fit for Polish and NATO-themed impressions, and it gives an AK-style manual of arms with a distinct, modern look.
How it works
As an electric replica, it is powered by a rechargeable battery that drives a motor and gearbox. Each pull of the trigger draws a piston back against a spring and releases it, sending a BB down the inner barrel, while the adjustable hop-up puts backspin on the BB so it holds its flight for longer. The result is consistent shot-to-shot performance that needs nothing more than a charged battery and a supply of BBs to keep going all day.
Handling and role
The Beryl is a full-size assault rifle, so it is a versatile all-rounder: long enough to be steady at range, but handy enough for woodland and buildings, especially with the stock folded for transport or close work.

Compatibility
Magazine fit for Beryl replicas varies by manufacturer, so please ask us before ordering spare magazines for this rifle. Battery space and connector type also vary; check with us before buying a battery. Optics and accessories need a Picatinny or 20mm rail, so check the rail fitted to your rifle. Use good-quality seamless 6mm BBs; 0.20g or 0.25g is a sensible starting point while you set the hop-up.
Care and maintenance
Take the battery out after every game and store it separately at a sensible storage charge, rather than leaving it connected inside the replica. Charge LiPo batteries with a proper balance charger, keep them in a LiPo-safe bag and never leave them charging unattended; NiMH packs should be charged with a smart charger that stops when the pack is full.
Run a cleaning rod with a lightly dampened patch through the inner barrel from time to time to clear dirt and residue, which keeps the hop-up consistent. Use good-quality seamless BBs, never reuse BBs that have been on the ground, and wipe the outside over after damp or muddy games. Leave gearbox work, shimming and spring changes to a competent technician.
Who is it for?
The ARES Beryl Mod. 96 suits milsim players building a Polish or NATO impression, AK fans who want something different, and collectors of less common military replicas.
Please note: A battery, charger and BBs are not listed as included; please check the listing photos or ask us before ordering. Always wear suitable eye protection, and full-face protection where your site requires it, when using or testing any airsoft replica.
