Description
Abbey Predator Vertex Gas (300gm – Yellow Gas)
Abbey Predator Vertex is a high-pressure airsoft gas from the UK manufacturer Abbey, supplied here in a 300g can and identified by its yellow colour coding. Retailers describe it as Abbey’s highest-pressure gas for rifle applications, aimed at gas blowback rifles with heavy bolts and at lighter gas replicas that struggle in cold weather.
Abbey’s Predator range is one of the best-known gas lines in UK airsoft, with different blends for different replicas and conditions. Vertex sits at the powerful end of the range, so it suits players who need more pressure than a standard green gas can give.
What it is designed for
Retailer descriptions say Vertex is intended for heavy gas blowback rifles, where the extra pressure helps cycle a heavy bolt, giving a stronger recoil feel and helping performance stay steadier during sustained fire. It is also suggested for lighter gas replicas in colder weather, when a lower-pressure gas can leave them sluggish.
Higher-pressure gas means more power. Before using it in any replica, check the manufacturer’s recommendations for your replica and magazines, and always chronograph it with the gas you will be playing with, as site power limits still apply.
Lubrication and nozzle
Retailers describe Vertex as containing a suspended lubricant that is carried in the gas to help keep O-rings and gas routes sealed. The can is described as having a snap-resistant filling nozzle.
Even with lubricated gas, it is good practice to add a drop of silicone oil to magazine seals now and then, particularly if a magazine has been stored dry.

Compatibility
For gas blowback rifles and other gas replicas rated for high-pressure gas. It is not suitable for every replica: many pistols and lighter magazines are designed for standard green gas, and running a higher-pressure gas can increase wear or damage parts. Check your replica and magazine manufacturer’s guidance, and chronograph before play.
Care and maintenance
Store cans upright in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, away from heat sources and out of reach of children; retailers note that the cans should not be exposed to temperatures above 50°C. Never leave a can in a hot car. Fill magazines outdoors or in a well-ventilated area, away from flames and sparks, and do not smoke while filling.
Fill with the can upside down and the nozzle pressed squarely into the magazine valve, and stop as soon as gas starts to spit back, as overfilling wastes gas and can stress valves. Keep a few drops of silicone oil on magazine seals and store magazines with a little gas in them so the seals stay seated. Empty cans cannot be refilled; dispose of them according to your local council’s guidance for aerosols.
Who is it for?
Gas blowback rifle owners who want stronger cycling from a heavy bolt, and players who need more pressure from lighter gas replicas in cold conditions, where their replica is rated for it.
Please note: Airsoft gas is extremely flammable. Use outdoors or in a well-ventilated area, keep away from heat and flames and out of reach of children. Always wear eye protection when shooting and check your site’s power limits.
