Abbey Universal Sportsmans Cloth
The Abbey Universal Sportsmans Cloth is a simple, reusable wiping cloth for looking after your kit. Keep one in your kit bag or gun case and use it to wipe down airsoft replicas, sporting guns, optics housings and other equipment after a day out, taking off the fingerprints, damp, dust and grime that build up during use.

Why wiping down matters
Skin oils and sweat from your hands are mildly corrosive, and in the UK a day in the woods usually means some rain or condensation as well. Left on a steel or alloy part overnight, that moisture can start to mark or tarnish the finish. Wiping your replica or gun down before it goes back in its bag removes most of it, and it also stops mud and grit being carried into actions, magazine wells and rails where it can cause wear.
Using the cloth
Work from the top of the gun down, giving most attention to the areas you handle: grip, slide or receiver, trigger guard and the front of the handguard. Wipe any external metal parts, including the outer barrel and muzzle device, and give magazines a quick once-over before they go back in pouches. The cloth is equally useful for wooden stocks and furniture, polymer parts and the outside of scopes and red dots, although lenses themselves are best cleaned with a dedicated lens cloth.
If you apply a light coat of oil or silicone to your metal parts as part of your routine, the cloth can be used to spread a thin, even film and to buff off any excess, so nothing is left to collect dust.

Care and maintenance
Shake the cloth out after use to remove grit, which could otherwise scratch a finish next time. Keep it in a clean bag or pouch rather than loose in the bottom of a kit bag, and replace it once it becomes heavily soiled or contaminated with grit.
