Description
ACM Allen/Hex Key (2mm, Silver)
The ACM 2mm Allen key, also known as a hex key, is a simple but essential tool for working on airsoft replicas and accessories. Small hex screws are used everywhere in airsoft, from grub screws that hold rails, mounts and muzzle devices in place to hop-up adjusters on some replicas, and many of them take a 2mm key.
The silver finish makes it easy to spot in a toolbox or kit bag, and its small size means it takes up almost no room. It is the sort of tool you do not think about until you need it, which is exactly why it is worth having a spare.
Using it
Choose the right size for the screw: a key that is slightly too small will round off the inside of the screw head and can make it very difficult to remove. Push the key fully into the screw before turning, and use steady pressure rather than sudden force. For tight screws, use the long arm of the key for more leverage; for quick spinning, use the short arm. If a screw has been secured with thread-locking compound, it may need more force or gentle heat to release.
Where it helps
A 2mm key often fits the grub screws on scope rings, rail sections, sling mounts, flash hiders and muzzle devices, and the small screws on some pistol and rifle parts. Keeping one in your kit bag means you can tighten a loose mount or adjust a part at the safe zone without hunting for tools.
Key features
- 2mm Allen / hex key
- Silver finish, easy to spot in a toolbox
- Handy for grub screws, mounts and small fittings
- Compact and light
- Useful spare for any kit bag
Compatibility
Fits 2mm metric hex socket screws. It will not fit imperial (inch) hex screws properly, and using it on the wrong size can damage the screw head, so check what your replica or accessory uses.
Care and maintenance
Keep the key dry and wipe it clean after use so it does not rust. A worn or rounded tip will slip in screws, so replace the key if the corners become worn.
Who is it for?
Every airsoft player and technician can use a 2mm hex key. It is particularly useful for players who fit their own optics, rails and muzzle devices.
