AT A GLANCE

Product overview

The M1 Garand was the standard American service rifle of the Second World War, famously described by General Patton as the greatest battle implement ever devised. A&K's electric replica captures its classic look with stained real wood furniture and a metal alloy receiver and barrel assembly.

Can I buy this? This is a realistic replica (RIF). UK law needs a valid defence to buy one, usually UKARA registration, which you get by playing three games over two months at one site. No UKARA? See two-tone versions: you just need to be 18 or over. Questions? Ask us.

Description

A&K M1 Garand (AEG – Real Wood)

The M1 Garand was the standard American service rifle of the Second World War, famously described by General Patton as the greatest battle implement ever devised. A&K’s electric replica captures its classic look with stained real wood furniture and a metal alloy receiver and barrel assembly.

Because it is an AEG, it is easy to run and cheap to use, but it keeps the semi-automatic character of the original: one shot per trigger pull. It is a natural choice for WWII and historical games, and a handsome rifle to own and display.

Build and materials

The real wood stock gives the A&K Garand the warmth and feel that plastic replicas cannot match, and each piece has its own grain. The receiver and barrel assembly are metal alloy, so the rifle feels solid and balanced. At around 1120mm long and about 8.25lb, it is a full-size rifle with a full-size presence.

Wood is a natural material, so expect small variations in colour and grain between rifles; that is part of the charm.

Performance and internals

Inside is a Version 7 gearbox designed around the Garand layout, driving an inner barrel of around 445mm. The long barrel and semi-auto operation make it well suited to deliberate, accurate shooting rather than spraying BBs. Fire modes are safe and semi.

The rifle uses A&K M1 Garand magazines, which hold around 20 rounds. That low capacity encourages careful, period-correct play and makes every shot count.

Battery and set-up

The battery is housed in the stock and connects with a small Tamiya connector. A 9.6V small-type battery is recommended. Take care when fitting the battery and routing the wires so they are not pinched when the stock is closed up.

Compatibility

Use A&K M1 Garand magazines; magazines from other M1 replicas may not fit. The Version 7 gearbox is specific to this style of rifle, so check that upgrade parts are listed as V7 compatible.

A small-type 9.6V battery with a small Tamiya connector fits the stock. If you use a different connector or chemistry, have the wiring checked by a technician.

Care and maintenance

Disconnect and remove the battery whenever the rifle is not in use, and store it separately at a sensible storage charge. Never leave a battery plugged in overnight or in a hot vehicle, and only charge with a charger suited to the battery chemistry.

Run a cleaning rod with a soft patch through the inner barrel every few games, or whenever accuracy drops, to clear dirt and BB residue. Use good quality seamless 6mm BBs, as cheap or damaged BBs are the most common cause of jams and hop-up wear.

Keep the outside of the gun dry and wipe off mud and moisture after a game. Store it in a padded bag or case away from damp, and have a qualified technician look at the gearbox if you notice changes in sound, rate of fire or trigger response.

Wipe the wooden furniture with a dry cloth after damp games and occasionally treat it with a suitable wood oil or wax to keep the finish protected.

Who is it for?

This rifle suits WWII and historical players, reenactors and collectors who want an authentic-looking Garand that is simple to run. Its semi-auto action also makes it a good choice for players who enjoy a marksman style of play.

Please note: Battery and charger are not included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection, and check your site’s power limits before play.
