Description

A&K MOD1 Piston Set with Steel Teeth

This A&K piston set is listed for the MOD1 and has steel teeth. The piston is the part inside the gearbox that the sector gear pulls back against the spring, and when released it drives air through the cylinder to fire the BB. Its teeth take a heavy load on every shot, so they are a common wear point.

Steel teeth are stronger than the plastic teeth used on many basic pistons, which helps the piston cope with higher rates of fire or stronger springs. A&K is a long-established airsoft maker, and an A&K part is a straightforward like-for-like replacement for the rifle it is made for. Our listing names the part for A&K’s “MOD1” platform but does not say which A&K rifle that is, and we could not confirm it from published sources. Please compare the part with the images and with your own rifle before ordering, or contact us with your rifle’s model and we will check for you.

Why replace the piston

Stripped or chipped piston teeth stop the gearbox cycling properly: you may hear the motor spin without firing, or the rifle may jam part way through a cycle. Worn piston heads or O-rings can also lose compression, which reduces power and consistency. Fitting a new piston set fixes these problems and is a common part of servicing a well-used rifle.

The word set in the name suggests more than just the piston body is included; check the product images to see exactly which parts come with it, such as a piston head.

Fitting

Open the gearbox carefully, decompress the spring and lift out the old piston. Compare the new piston with the old one, check the head and O-ring, and lightly lubricate the O-ring before fitting. Check the angle of engagement between the first piston tooth and the sector gear, which affects how smoothly the gearbox runs.

Gearbox work involves a compressed spring and many small parts. If you are not confident, have the work done by an experienced airsoft technician, and always remove the battery and magazine first.

Key features

  • Replacement piston set from A&K
  • Steel teeth for strength
  • Listed for the A&K MOD1
  • Fixes stripped teeth and compression loss
  • Good for servicing and upgrades

Compatibility

Listed for the A&K MOD1. Pistons vary in length, tooth layout and head fitting between gearboxes, so compare the part with your existing piston and the product images before ordering. Make sure the piston suits your spring and gear set.

Care and maintenance

Use a light film of silicone grease on the piston O-ring and a thin layer of gear grease on the teeth. Inspect the teeth whenever the gearbox is open, and replace the piston at the first sign of chips or wear.

Store the rifle with the spring decompressed where possible and the battery disconnected.

Who is it for?

A&K MOD1 owners and technicians replacing a worn piston or strengthening the gearbox with steel teeth.

Please note: Rifle and other gearbox parts are not included. Always wear suitable eye protection when testing airsoft replicas.
