Ares L85A3 (EFCS Gearbox – AR-058E – BLUE)
The Ares L85A3 (AR-058E) is an electric airsoft replica of the British Army’s current-issue bullpup rifle, the latest evolution of the SA80 family, finished in blue. It is fitted with Ares’s EFCS (Electronic Firing Control System) gearbox, which manages the trigger electronically for a crisp response, and it is supplied with a hard case and two magazines.
Ares is a Hong Kong maker known for innovative internals and well-built replicas, and its L85 family is one of the most popular choices for British military impressions. The bullpup layout puts a long barrel into a compact rifle, making it equally useful in woodland and in buildings.
Build and materials
The upper and lower receivers are stamped steel, giving the rifle a solid, authentic feel, alongside aluminium alloy parts, a CNC-machined aluminium handguard and a metal trigger guard. It is full metal, with noticeable but manageable weight. A rail system gives space for a foregrip, light, laser or optic, so you can set it up the way the real rifle is used. The bolt locking system is functional.
Performance and internals
The EFCS gearbox is metal and reinforced, with a full steel gear set, driven by a high-torque motor. Electronic trigger control gives a sharper, more consistent response than mechanical contacts and helps protect the internals. The hop-up is adjustable, and the rifle includes Ares’s Rapid Velocity Tuning System (RVTS), which makes it easier to adjust the power to suit different site limits. Fire modes are safe, semi-auto and full-auto. A 7.4V LiPo battery is recommended.
Handling
As a bullpup, the L85A3 carries its weight close to the shoulder, making it balanced and easy to hold on aim. Practise magazine changes behind the grip before your first game. The rifle takes standard M4 AEG magazines as well as Ares M4 AEG magazines, which makes finding spares easy.
Getting started
Charge a suitable 7.4V LiPo battery, fit it as the manual describes and load one of the supplied 130-round magazines. Fire a few shots into a safe backstop and adjust the hop-up until your BBs fly flat. If your site has a lower power limit, read the manual’s instructions on the RVTS before making changes. Fit your choice of optic to the top rail and zero it at your usual engagement distance, then have the rifle chronographed at your site before play.

Compatibility

Care and maintenance
Disconnect the battery after each game and store LiPos at storage charge in a fire-safe bag. Clean the inner barrel regularly, use good quality seamless BBs, and wipe the steel receivers with a lightly oiled cloth after wet games. Read the manual before making adjustments with the RVTS.
