The Ares M45X-S is a compact SMG-style AEG that takes the familiar M4 layout and pairs it with a pistol-calibre style magazine, creating a short, fast-handling rifle for close-quarters play. This AR-085E version is fitted with a retractable stock incorporating an arm stabilising brace. It is finished in blue for the UK market.
The M45X-S is built around a reinforced, dedicated gearbox with Ares’s integrated EFCS module, an Ares slim motor and a metal receiver, giving it a sharp trigger and a solid feel in a compact package. Tool-less assembly and quick-change front sets make it unusually easy to strip and reconfigure.
Performance and internals
The integrated EFCS (Electronic Firing Control System) module controls the trigger and shortens motor reaction time, replacing the standard connector cube with a built-in MOSFET. It allows the use of high-voltage batteries, including LiPo. Fire modes are semi and full auto, selected with an ambidextrous safety selector, and an external EFCS programmer, sold separately, unlocks a 3-round burst and custom fire sequences.
The M45X-S uses interchangeable front sets, which can be swapped without tools to change barrel length and output. This makes it a flexible platform for players who move between indoor and outdoor sites.
Build and handling
The receiver is metal, with steel pins and screws, while the pistol grip is polymer. The retractable stock with arm stabilising brace gives a compact, modern profile. Rail space allows a red dot or torch to be fitted. The short overall length makes the M45X-S easy to move with in tight spaces.
Tool-less disassembly means you can take the rifle apart for cleaning or to change the front set without hunting for tools, which is handy at the safe zone between games.

Compatibility
The M45X-S takes Ares M45 magazines, which are available in mid and low-capacity versions. On the M45X-S the battery is carried in the stock area; choose a compact LiPo stick battery that fits and check the connector before ordering. Rail sections accept standard 20mm accessories. Front sets and many internal parts are specific to the Ares M45 series, so check compatibility before buying upgrades.
Care and maintenance
Unplug the battery after every game and store it separately at the recommended storage charge. Use good quality seamless BBs, which protect the hop-up rubber and barrel and give more consistent flight. Clean the inner barrel periodically with a cleaning rod and a lightly dampened patch, then run a dry patch through. Wipe the rifle down after wet or muddy games and let it dry naturally before bagging it. Electronic gearboxes are best serviced by a technician familiar with Ares internals, so avoid opening the gearbox yourself unless you are confident.
