Description
Battleaxe Airsoft AK Series Tappet Plate
This Battleaxe tappet plate is a replacement part for AK series AEGs. The tappet plate is attached to the air nozzle and is pushed back and forth by the sector gear every time the gearbox cycles, pulling the nozzle back so a BB can drop from the magazine and then returning it forward to chamber the BB and seal behind it.
It is a small part with a big job, and because it flexes on every shot it eventually wears or breaks. When it does, feeding becomes unreliable and power drops, so having a spare on hand is a sensible idea for any AK owner.
Signs of a worn tappet plate
Common symptoms include misfeeds, double-feeding, BBs rolling out of the barrel, sudden drops in power, or a rifle that fires but sends nothing downrange. A cracked tappet or one whose return spring is weak will cause these problems. If you open the gearbox and find a chipped tooth where the sector gear meets it, replace the plate.
Fitting
Replacing the tappet plate means opening the gearbox, so it is best done by an experienced user or technician. Transfer the nozzle and tappet return spring from your old plate, or fit new ones if they are worn. Make sure the plate moves freely before closing the gearbox.
Key features
- Tappet plate for AK series AEGs
- Controls nozzle movement for feeding
- Common wear part for repairs
- Useful spare for servicing
- From Battleaxe
Compatibility
Designed for AK series AEGs, which use a Version 3 gearbox. Some manufacturers use modified gearbox designs, so compare the plate with your existing one before fitting. It is used with your existing nozzle and tappet return spring.
Care and maintenance
During gearbox servicing, check the tappet plate for cracks and make sure it slides smoothly. A light touch of grease where it contacts the sector gear helps reduce wear. Keep grease away from the nozzle to protect the hop-up rubber.
Who is it for?
AK owners and techs who want a replacement tappet plate for repairs or as a spare.
Please note: Always remove the battery and release spring tension before opening a gearbox.
