Description

Battleaxe Airsoft Selector Plate For VER.2 Gearbox Series AEG

This Battleaxe selector plate is a replacement part for AEGs built around a Version 2 gearbox, the most common gearbox design in airsoft, found in M4/M16-pattern rifles and many other models. It sits on the side of the gearbox and works with the external fire selector to switch the rifle between safe, semi and full auto.

Selector plates do a lot of work over the life of a rifle, and when they wear, crack or lose their detent, the selector can become sloppy, stick between positions or fail to select the right mode. Battleaxe’s replacement parts give players and technicians an affordable way to fix the problem and get the rifle back into the game.

How the selector plate works

Turning the selector lever on the outside of the rifle moves the selector plate along the gearbox shell. In the safe position it stops the trigger moving, in semi it allows the cut-off lever to break the circuit after each shot, and in full auto it holds the cut-off away so the rifle keeps firing while the trigger is held. A plate in good condition gives a positive click into each position.

Fitting and servicing

Replacing the selector plate on a V2 gearbox normally means taking the gearbox out of the lower receiver. The plate itself is held on the side of the shell and is easy to swap once the gearbox is accessible. It is worth checking the trigger, the cut-off lever and the trigger contacts while you are there, as worn parts there can cause similar symptoms.

If you are servicing several rifles, keeping a spare selector plate in your parts box saves waiting for parts when one fails just before a game day.

Key features

  • Replacement selector plate for Version 2 gearbox AEGs
  • Works with the external fire selector
  • Controls safe, semi and full-auto modes
  • Fixes sloppy, stuck or misbehaving selectors
  • Affordable Battleaxe replacement part
  • Useful spare for M4 and other V2 rifles

Compatibility

Listed for Version 2 gearbox series AEGs. Selector plates can differ between manufacturers and between rifle types even within the V2 family, so check your gearbox version and compare the product images with your existing plate before ordering. Ambidextrous selectors and some electronic trigger units may use a different arrangement.

Care and maintenance

Keep the gearbox clean and lightly greased with a suitable AEG gearbox grease, and avoid using too much, which attracts grit. Check the selector detent and the surrounding parts for wear whenever the gearbox is opened.

After fitting, test the rifle in each mode with the battery connected and confirm that the selector clicks cleanly into place before using it in a game.

Who is it for?

It suits owners of V2 gearbox rifles whose selector has become unreliable, players keeping a spares kit for common repairs, and technicians who service M4-pattern AEGs.

Please note: Fitting requires opening the gearbox. If you are not confident working on AEG internals, ask an experienced airsoft technician to fit it.
