Mesh protection
A mesh face stops whole BBs and does not fog, so you keep a clear view whatever the weather and however hard you are working. The trade-off is that mesh does not stop small fragments of a broken BB or fine grit.
For this reason, many players wear impact-rated shooting glasses or sealed goggles underneath a fencing-style mask, and some sites require this. Check your site’s rules on mesh before you play.
Fit and comfort
Adjust the head strap so the mask sits firmly and evenly, without pushing on your nose, and make sure it does not move when you turn your head or go prone. Check that you can see your sights and get your cheek on the stock comfortably.
If you plan to wear a cap, helmet or headset, try them together with the mask first.

Care and maintenance
After a game, knock out any dirt caught in the mesh and wipe the mask with a damp cloth, then leave it to air dry at room temperature. Avoid solvents and strong cleaners, which can damage paint and finishes.
Look the mesh over before each use for dents, loose wires or gaps at the edges, and check the straps and buckles. Replace or repair any damage before you play, and store the mask where it will not be squashed.
