The Black Owl Gear Reflex Red Dot Sight, model BO-SSR1602-BK, is a compact reflex sight finished in black. A reflex sight projects a red aiming dot onto an angled lens, so you can keep both eyes open, put the dot on the target and shoot, which makes it one of the fastest sighting systems you can fit to an airsoft replica.
Black Owl Gear produces affordable optics and accessories for airsoft players. A red dot is the most popular first optic upgrade in the sport, as it is quicker and more forgiving than iron sights, works well in woodland and CQB, and is easy to set up and use.
Using a red dot
Because there is no magnification, a red dot gives you a wide, clear field of view. Look at the target, bring the dot onto it and fire; there is no need to line up front and rear sights or hold your head in an exact position. That speed is a real advantage when targets appear suddenly at short and medium range.
Remember that BBs fly in an arc and are affected by hop-up, so the dot is a reference point rather than a guarantee. Zero it at the distance you most often engage, and learn how much higher or lower your BBs land at other distances.
Fitting and zeroing
Check the mount in the product images and compare it with the rail on your replica before fitting. Mount the sight far enough forward that you can see the whole window comfortably with your normal cheek position. Set your hop-up first, then use the windage and elevation adjusters, if fitted, to bring the dot onto your point of impact at your chosen zero distance.

Compatibility
Check the sight’s mount in the product images against the rail on your replica before ordering. Most airsoft rifles and SMGs use 20mm rails, but some pistols and older replicas differ. If you are unsure whether it will fit your gun, contact us before ordering.
Care and maintenance
Clean the lenses with a soft lens cloth or lens pen, and blow or brush grit off first so you do not scratch the coating. Avoid household glass cleaners and rough fabrics.
Fit the caps or a lens protector when the sight is not in use, as BB strikes can mark or crack exposed glass. Store the sight dry, and if it has a battery, take it out for long-term storage.
