Description
Bolt 5 SWAT J (Hard Kick Recoil – Hard Stock – Black)
The Bolt 5 SWAT J is an MP5-pattern electric SMG from Bolt Airsoft’s SWAT series, built with Bolt’s “hard kick” recoil system and a hard (fixed) stock, as named, in black. Bolt is best known for its recoil AEGs, which give a noticeably stronger kick than most electric replicas, and the SWAT series brings that feel to the classic MP5 layout.
An MP5-style SMG is compact, well balanced and instantly recognisable, and is a favourite for CQB, police and counter-terrorism themed loadouts. With Bolt’s recoil system, every shot gives a satisfying thump in the shoulder that makes the SWAT J one of the more exciting electric SMGs to shoot.
Bolt recoil system
Bolt calls its recoil system BRSS. Listings for other Bolt SWAT models describe it as simulating recoil and bolt-carrier movement using a weight on top of the gearbox, which drives the effect without adding stress to the gearbox. The result is a much stronger recoil than standard electric blowback.
The same listings describe a reinforced Version 2 blowback gearbox with metal gears and a metal gearbox shell. Please check the manual for this model’s exact internals before buying upgrade parts.
Build and handling
Listings for other Bolt SWAT models describe a steel body with plastic grip and stock, a 14mm counter-clockwise thread for mock suppressors and a G3/MP5-style claw mount for optics. The hard stock on this version gives a solid, consistent cheek weld and a steady hold, which helps control the recoil.
The MP5 controls are simple and familiar, and the short overall length makes the SMG quick to point and easy to move with in buildings. Please see the product photos for the exact handguard and fittings on the SWAT J.

Compatibility
A listing for another Bolt SWAT model describes its magazine as compatible with standard AEG MP5-pattern magazines; fit varies between makers, so test any spare before relying on it. Listings for other SWAT models give a 7.4V LiPo with a small plug; check the battery space and connector on this model before buying.
Recoil AEGs have their own gearbox layout, so check that any internal parts are listed for Bolt recoil rifles. Seamless BBs of 0.20g to 0.25g are a sensible starting point.
Care and maintenance
Take the battery out after every game and store it separately at a sensible storage charge, rather than leaving it connected inside the replica. Charge LiPo batteries with a proper balance charger, keep them in a LiPo-safe bag and never leave them charging unattended; NiMH packs should be charged with a smart charger that stops when the pack is full.
Run a cleaning rod with a lightly dampened patch through the inner barrel from time to time to clear dirt and residue, which keeps the hop-up consistent. Use good-quality seamless BBs, never reuse BBs that have been on the ground, and wipe the outside over after damp or muddy games. Leave gearbox work, shimming and spring changes to a competent technician.
A recoil system adds extra movement inside the receiver, so check screws and fittings now and then and tighten anything that has worked loose.
Who is it for?
The Bolt SWAT J is for CQB players who want an MP5-style SMG with genuinely strong recoil, and for anyone building a police, SWAT or counter-terrorism themed loadout who wants their replica to feel as lively as it looks.
Please note: A battery, charger and BBs are not listed as included. Always wear suitable eye protection, and full-face protection where your site requires it, when using or testing any airsoft replica.
