The Bolt 5 Swat J is an electric airsoft submachine gun from Bolt Airsoft, fitted with Bolt’s hard kick recoil system and a retractable stock, in black. Bolt’s B5 range is styled on the classic MP5 family of submachine guns, and the Swat J brings that iconic outline together with Bolt’s signature recoil.
Bolt Airsoft is best known for its B.R.S.S. (Bolt Recoil Shock System), which gives its electric replicas a strong, realistic kick with every shot. On a compact SMG, that recoil adds a real sense of character and makes every burst more satisfying, without the running costs of a gas blowback replica.
Design and handling

Hard kick recoil
Bolt’s recoil system uses a weighted mechanism that moves with each shot, giving a noticeable kick through the shoulder. It does not change how the BB is fired, but it adds realism and feedback that many players enjoy, especially in training-style games and milsim.
Recoil systems add movement inside the gun, so use a recoil-rated optic if you fit one, and check screws and mounts from time to time.
Setting up
As with any AEG, the best results come from a good battery and good BBs. Check the battery space and connector in the manual before buying a battery, as space in compact SMGs can be limited. Start with the hop-up off and add a little at a time until the BBs fly flat, and have the gun chronographed at your site before play.

Compatibility
Use magazines made for MP5-pattern AEGs; please check with us before buying spares, as fit can vary between brands and recoil models. Any rails take standard 20mm accessories.
Check the battery type and connector in the manual before buying a battery, and use 6mm seamless BBs; 0.20g to 0.25g is a good starting point.
Care and maintenance
Take the battery out after every game and store it separately at a sensible storage charge, rather than leaving it connected inside the replica. Charge LiPo batteries with a proper balance charger, keep them in a LiPo-safe bag and never leave them charging unattended; NiMH packs should be charged with a smart charger that stops when the pack is full.
Run a cleaning rod with a lightly dampened patch through the inner barrel from time to time to clear dirt and residue, which keeps the hop-up consistent. Use good-quality seamless BBs, never reuse BBs that have been on the ground, and wipe the outside over after damp or muddy games. Leave gearbox work, shimming and spring changes to a competent technician.
