Product overview

The Cyma 26 Series Spring Action Pistol (P698) is a compact, spring-powered pistol in black, styled on the popular subcompact 26-series handgun. It is cocked by hand before each shot, so it needs no gas, CO2 or batteries, making it simple, reliable and very cheap to run.

Can I buy this? This is a realistic replica (RIF). UK law needs a valid defence to buy one, usually UKARA registration, which you get by playing three games over two months at one site. No UKARA? See two-tone versions: you just need to be 18 or over. Questions? Ask us.

Description

Cyma 26 Series Spring Action Pistol (P698 – Black)

The Cyma 26 Series Spring Action Pistol (P698) is a compact, spring-powered pistol in black, styled on the popular subcompact 26-series handgun. It is cocked by hand before each shot, so it needs no gas, CO2 or batteries, making it simple, reliable and very cheap to run.

Cyma is a well-established airsoft manufacturer with a huge range of replicas, and its spring pistols are a popular way into the hobby. The P698 is ideal for target practice in the garden, for introducing newcomers to airsoft, or as a no-fuss backup that will work in any weather.

How it works

To fire, pull back the slide to cock the spring and chamber a BB, then pull the trigger. Each shot requires the slide to be worked again, which encourages careful, deliberate shooting and helps beginners learn good habits. Because the pistol is powered by its own spring, performance stays the same whatever the temperature, unlike gas pistols that can struggle in cold weather.

Handling and size

The 26-series style is a subcompact design, so the pistol is small, light and easy to hold. The compact grip suits smaller hands well, and the pistol is easy to carry, store and pack away. The black finish gives it a clean, realistic look.

Using it for practice

A spring pistol is a great tool for practising sight alignment and trigger control. Set up a few targets in a safe space, use a suitable BB trap, and you can spend an afternoon improving your aim for very little cost. Always check that your backstop will catch BBs safely and that nobody is downrange.

Spring or gas?

Gas and CO2 pistols offer blowback and faster follow-up shots, but they cost more to run and can be affected by the weather. A spring pistol trades speed for simplicity: there is nothing to fill or charge, very little to go wrong, and it will be ready whenever you pick it up. Many players keep a spring pistol as a backup for exactly that reason, and it is an excellent, low-cost way to find out whether airsoft is for you before investing in more expensive kit.

Key features

  • Spring-powered, manually cocked pistol
  • Compact 26-series style
  • No gas, CO2 or batteries needed
  • Performs the same in any temperature
  • Simple and cheap to run
  • Black finish, model P698

Compatibility

The P698 fires standard 6mm airsoft BBs. Light 0.12g or 0.20g BBs are a good match for a spring pistol; use good quality, seamless BBs. Compact holsters designed for subcompact 26-series pistols are a good starting point, but check the fit before relying on one.

Care and maintenance

Spring pistols need very little maintenance. Use clean, seamless BBs to avoid jams, keep the pistol free of dust and grit, and wipe it over after use outdoors.

Do not store the pistol cocked, as this leaves the spring under tension. A tiny amount of silicone oil on the slide rails now and then keeps the action smooth. Store the pistol in a dry place, ideally in a case or bag.

Who is it for?

The Cyma P698 suits beginners, garden target shooters and anyone who wants an inexpensive, dependable spring pistol as a backup or for practice.

Please note: BBs are not included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection and check the power limits and rules at your site before play.
