AT A GLANCE

Product overview

The Cyma CM516 is an M4 carbine AEG from Cyma's Sports Line, styled with a URX III-style railed handguard. The Sports Line is Cyma's budget range: it uses a polymer body to keep the price and weight down, while keeping a reinforced metal gearbox inside so the gun stands up to regular use.

Can I buy this? This is a realistic replica (RIF). UK law needs a valid defence to buy one, usually UKARA registration, which you get by playing three games over two months at one site. No UKARA? See two-tone versions: you just need to be 18 or over. Questions? Ask us.

Description

Cyma CM516 M4 URX AEG (Sports Line, Black)

The Cyma CM516 is an M4 carbine AEG from Cyma’s Sports Line, styled with a URX III-style railed handguard. The Sports Line is Cyma’s budget range: it uses a polymer body to keep the price and weight down, while keeping a reinforced metal gearbox inside so the gun stands up to regular use.

That combination makes the CM516 a good first AEG. It is light, easy to handle and has the familiar M4 layout used by a huge number of players, so magazines, accessories and advice are all easy to find. It is also a sensible budget backup or loan gun for experienced players.

Build and materials

The receiver is ABS polymer, and the URX III-style handguard is polymer with rail sections for accessories such as a torch, laser or vertical grip. The outer barrel is metal. A top rail gives room for a red dot or scope, and folding iron sights are fitted for backup aiming. A six-position Crane-style stock lets you set the length of pull for your build and kit.

Performance and internals

Inside is a reinforced metal gearbox with steel gears, 8mm slide bearings, an M125 spring and a metal spring guide with bearing. The one-piece metal hop-up chamber and 6.08mm inner barrel give consistent shots, and the hop-up is adjustable so you can match it to your BB weight. Start with 0.20g or 0.25g seamless BBs, set the hop-up so they fly flat, and you will get the most from the barrel.

Because the gearbox follows the standard M4 layout, the CM516 can be upgraded step by step as you gain experience, from a better hop-up rubber to a new motor or tighter barrel.

Handling

The polymer build keeps the weight low, so it is easy to carry all day and quick to bring on target. The M4 control layout is simple to learn: the safety and fire selector sit by your thumb, and magazines change quickly. The 300-round magazine holds plenty of BBs between reloads.

Compatibility

Takes M4/M16 AEG magazines. The gearbox follows the standard M4 layout, so many common upgrade parts will fit, but check the part is listed for Cyma M4 AEGs before ordering. The rails take standard 20mm optics and accessories. Check the battery size and connector against the battery space in the stock before buying a battery.

Care and maintenance

Take the battery out of the gun whenever you are not using it, and store LiPo batteries at storage charge in a fire-resistant bag. Never leave a battery charging unattended.

Use good quality, seamless 6mm BBs; cheap or damaged BBs are the most common cause of jams and can damage the hop-up rubber. Run a cleaning rod with a dry patch through the inner barrel every few games, and if a BB jams, clear it with the rod from the muzzle end with the battery removed.

After each game wipe the outside down to remove dirt and moisture, and let the gun dry at room temperature if it has been out in the rain. Turn the hop-up back off when storing it for long periods, and leave the gun on safe and on semi rather than full auto, so the spring is not left compressed.

Who is it for?

The CM516 is for new players who want a light, affordable M4 to start with, and for anyone who needs a dependable budget backup or loan gun.

Please note: Always wear suitable eye and face protection and check the power limits at your site before play.
