Description
Enola Gaye EG18X Wire Pull Smoke Grenade Purple
The Enola Gaye EG18X is the extreme output version of Enola Gaye’s well-known EG18 smoke grenade, here producing purple smoke. It is a larger, heavier unit designed to put out a big, dense cloud quickly, which makes it a strong choice when you need to block a wide line of sight or create a bold, eye-catching effect.
Enola Gaye supply coloured smoke to airsoft and paintball players, photographers, film crews and event organisers around the world. The EG18X is the unit to reach for when a smaller grenade will not do the job, for example screening a whole team as it crosses open ground, or filling a frame with purple smoke for a dramatic shot.
How it works
Ignition is by Enola Gaye’s Wire Pull system. Hold the body firmly and pull the metal ring hard at 90 degrees to the side of the unit, then throw or place it. There is no striker to lose and no need for a lighter. Enola Gaye state that the unit produces no flame and that the casing stays cool enough to handle with gloves on.
The manufacturer quotes around 45 seconds of smoke (plus or minus 15 seconds), during which a large cloud builds up. The unit measures about 55mm across and 112mm long and weighs around 290g, so it has a reassuring heft and can be thrown accurately.
On the field and on set
In a game, a single EG18X can cover a push across a road or clearing, hide a flanking move or mark an objective clearly. The purple colour gives an unmistakable signal, which is useful for marking extraction points or calling in team mates during scenario and milsim events.
For photographers and film makers, the high output gives a full, rich cloud that reads well on camera. Plan the shot around the wind, set the unit down where the smoke will drift through the frame, and keep your subject at a comfortable distance from the vent.

Compatibility
The EG18X is a stand-alone unit and needs nothing else to operate. Because it is larger than compact smoke grenades, check that your pouch is big enough before you head out. Always confirm that your site or venue permits smoke and pyrotechnics, and whether it has rules on where they can be used.
Care and storage
Store pyrotechnics in their original packaging in a cool, dry place, away from heat sources, open flames and direct sunlight, and well out of the reach of children. Do not carry loose units where the pull ring could snag on webbing or kit; a dedicated grenade pouch with a closed lid is the best way to carry them on the field.
Never attempt to take a unit apart, modify it or relight one that has failed to work. If a unit does not go off, leave it where it is for a few minutes, then pick it up with gloves and hand it to a marshal. Allow spent casings to cool fully before picking them up, and take them away with you for disposal rather than leaving them on site.
Enola Gaye advise outdoor use only, keeping at least 3m away once it is running, wearing gloves and eye protection, and avoiding breathing in the smoke. The smoke can stain surfaces or clothing that are within about 30cm of the vent, so keep it away from kit and backdrops you want to keep clean.
Who is it for?
The EG18X suits airsoft and paintball players who want maximum screening from a single grenade, and photographers, film makers and event organisers looking for a big, bold purple cloud.
Please note: This is a pyrotechnic product. Use it outdoors only, with the permission of the site or landowner, follow the instructions printed on the unit, and always wear eye protection and gloves when handling it.
