FMA Wire Mesh T800 Mask (TB553)
The FMA Wire Mesh T800 Mask (TB553) is a full-face mask styled after the endoskeleton face of the T-800 from the Terminator films, with a wire mesh eye area. It is part of FMA’s long-running range of themed wire mesh masks.
It is a striking piece of kit, and a favourite for players who want something memorable for themed weekends, Halloween games and big events. Behind the look, it covers much of the face, and the mesh eyes give you a view that will not fog, which is a real bonus on cold mornings and in busy CQB buildings.
Mesh eye protection
The big advantage of mesh is that it does not fog, however hard you are working or however cold and damp the morning is. Mesh will stop a whole BB, but fragments from a BB that breaks on impact, and fine dirt, can get through the gaps.
Plenty of players wear impact-rated glasses or sealed goggles beneath a mesh mask for that reason, and some sites insist on it. Check with your site before your first game so you know what they accept.
Fit and wear
Set the straps so the mask sits firmly without pressure points, and check it does not move when you look around quickly or run. Check your view to the sides and down towards your feet, and make sure you can get your eye in line with your sights.
Try it at home with your replica, helmet and any headset before game day, so you are not adjusting straps in the safe zone.

Care and maintenance
After a game, knock out any dirt caught in the mesh and wipe the mask with a damp cloth, then leave it to air dry at room temperature. Avoid solvents and strong cleaners, which can damage paint and finishes.
Look the mesh over before each use for dents, loose wires or gaps at the edges, and check the straps and buckles. Replace or repair any damage before you play, and store the mask where it will not be squashed.
