Description
FN Herstal Minimi M249 MK46 Support Rifle (AK-249-MK46 – Tan)
The FN Herstal Minimi M249 MK46 is an electric light support weapon made by A&K under FN Herstal licensing, finished in tan (AK-249-MK46). The MK46 is the lightened, special operations variant of the M249, and this replica captures its purposeful lines in a support gun that is built for sustained fire.
A&K’s M249 platform is one of the most established in airsoft, and the MK46 version is a favourite with support gunners who want the look of a modern special forces LMG. It comes with a 2500-round sound-activated box magazine and a steel folding bipod, so it is ready for the support role from day one.
Build and features
The MK46 has a steel carry handle and a steel folding bipod, and the box magazine sits under the receiver in the traditional M249 manner. The tan finish suits desert, coyote and multi-terrain loadouts and gives the gun a striking appearance on the field.
Support weapons are heavy by nature, and the MK46’s weight helps keep it steady when firing long bursts. Set up on the bipod, it gives your team a reliable base of fire to cover advances and hold down opposing players.
Gearbox and performance
Inside is a reinforced metal gearbox shell with 8mm bearings and heavy-duty steel gears, driven by a short-type motor. The internals are designed to cope with higher discharge rate batteries such as LiPo and Li-Ion. The hop-up is adjustable, and the gun fires on safe and full auto.
The 2500-round sound-activated box magazine feeds BBs as the gun fires, keeping a steady supply going during long bursts. The muzzle has a 14mm negative thread for suppressors and tracer units.
Getting started
Charge your battery on a proper charger and fit it following the manual. Load a magazine and test-fire at a safe backstop, starting with the hop-up off and bringing it up gradually until shots fly flat. A few minutes of zeroing at the range makes a big difference to your confidence on the field.
Practise magazine changes and battery swaps at home, and get the rifle chronographed at the site before your first game.

Compatibility
The MK46 is also compatible with Tokyo Marui and similar M4/M16 AEG magazines and with Classic Army box magazines, but not with G&P M249 box magazines. Choose a LiPo or Li-Ion battery that fits the gun’s battery space and check the connector before ordering. The gearbox takes A&K M249 gearbox parts, and the 14mm negative thread suits most suppressors and tracer units.
Care and maintenance
Unplug and remove the battery whenever the gun is not in use, and never leave a LiPo charging unattended. Run a cleaning rod through the inner barrel regularly, and use only clean, polished BBs, as damaged BBs can jam the feed of a high-capacity magazine.
Store the gun dry, with the bipod folded, and check that screws and fittings are tight before each game. Have any internal servicing carried out by someone familiar with M249-type AEGs.
Who is it for?
The MK46 suits support gunners and milsim players who want a licensed, special-forces style LMG with sustained fire capability, especially those running tan or desert kit.
Please note: A battery and charger are not listed as included. Many sites have specific rules for support weapons, so check before play. Always wear suitable eye and face protection.
