Description
Guarder Ball Bearings Spring Guide for Ver.2 Gearboxes
The Guarder Ball Bearings Spring Guide is a replacement spring guide for Version 2 AEG gearboxes, fitted with a bearing so the main spring can rotate freely as it compresses and releases. Version 2 gearboxes are used in M4, M16, MP5 and many similar AEGs.
The spring guide supports the main spring at the back of the gearbox. As the spring compresses, it naturally wants to twist; a standard guide resists this, which adds torque that the piston and gears must overcome. A bearing lets the spring turn, so the system runs more smoothly.
Benefits
Letting the spring rotate reduces friction and stress on the piston and the back of the gearbox. Many technicians fit a bearing guide as standard in any upgraded build, and it is particularly worthwhile with stronger springs.
It is also a straightforward replacement for a guide that has cracked or deformed under a heavy spring.
Fitting
Some Version 2 gearboxes have a quick-change spring system that lets you remove the spring guide from the rear without fully opening the shell; others need to be opened. Disconnect the battery and decock the rifle before starting. Check that the guide sits correctly in its slot before closing up.
Key features
- Ball bearing spring guide from Guarder
- For Version 2 AEG gearboxes
- Lets the main spring rotate freely
- Reduces spring torque on the piston
- Smoother cycling
- Replaces worn or cracked guides
Compatibility
For Version 2 gearboxes. A Version 3 equivalent is available separately. Quick-change spring gearboxes and some clone designs may use different guides, so check yours before ordering.
Care and maintenance
Disconnect and remove the battery after every game and before any work on the gearbox. Use clean, seamless BBs of a good brand, as poor-quality ammunition causes jams that put extra stress on internal parts.
When the gearbox is open, inspect the moving parts for wear, clean off old grease and apply a thin layer of suitable gearbox grease only where it is needed. Keep grease and oil away from the air nozzle, inner barrel and hop-up rubber.
Who is it for?
For players and technicians rebuilding a Version 2 gearbox who want smoother spring action and less wear.
Please note: Spring guide only; main spring not included. Always wear suitable eye protection when testing a replica.
