HFC – HG166 – USP Compact – Magazine feed lips
This is a replacement set of magazine feed lips for the HFC HG166 USP Compact gas pistol. HFC is a manufacturer known for affordable gas pistols and rifles, and the HG166 is its compact replica of the USP pistol.
The feed lips sit at the top of the magazine and hold the next BB in exactly the right position for the pistol to load it. If they are worn, cracked or bent, the pistol may double-feed, fail to feed, or lose BBs out of the top of the magazine. Replacing the feed lips is a cheap and effective way to restore reliable feeding.
Signs you need new feed lips
Common symptoms include BBs falling out of the top of a loaded magazine, two BBs being pushed into the hop-up at once, the pistol firing without a BB, or BBs dribbling out of the barrel. Visible cracks or splayed lips confirm the problem. Because the feed lips take a knock every time a magazine is dropped, they are one of the more common wear parts on a pistol magazine.
Fitting
Empty the magazine of all gas and BBs first. Feed lips are usually held by a pin or screw at the top of the magazine; remove the old part, keeping track of any small springs, and fit the new lips in its place. Make sure the follower moves freely and BBs sit correctly before gassing and testing.
