AT A GLANCE

Product overview

The Ikazuchi Type 0 is a mid-range battle rifle AEG built by JG, with a distinctive modern styling that sets it apart from standard M4 replicas. Underneath its looks it is based on the M4/M16 AEG platform, which means it uses familiar magazines and accepts a huge range of internal upgrade parts.

Can I buy this? This is a realistic replica (RIF). UK law needs a valid defence to buy one, usually UKARA registration, which you get by playing three games over two months at one site. No UKARA? See two-tone versions: you just need to be 18 or over. Questions? Ask us.

Description

JG Ika Zuchi AEG

The Ikazuchi Type 0 is a mid-range battle rifle AEG built by JG, with a distinctive modern styling that sets it apart from standard M4 replicas. Underneath its looks it is based on the M4/M16 AEG platform, which means it uses familiar magazines and accepts a huge range of internal upgrade parts.

JG has a long history of building affordable, dependable AEGs, and the Ikazuchi follows that approach: a polymer body to keep the weight and cost down, combined with a reinforced metal gearbox inside. It is a good choice for players who want something that looks different on the field without moving away from a well-supported platform.

Build and materials

The body is polymer, with a metal gearbox and a rubberised motor grip for a secure hold. An integrated top rail gives room for a red dot or scope, and an ambidextrous rear sling mount suits one-point slings. The five-position retractable stock adjusts the length of pull, from about 557mm collapsed to 640mm extended, and the whole rifle weighs around 2.76kg.

Performance and internals

Inside is a reinforced metal Version 2 gearbox with a long-type motor, the standard layout for M4-pattern AEGs. The inner barrel is around 228mm, and the hop-up is adjustable so you can tune it for your BB weight. Fire modes are safe, semi and full auto. The outer barrel has a 14mm counter-clockwise thread for standard muzzle devices.

The battery sits at the front and connects with a small Tamiya plug; a 7.4V LiPo in a small stick or buffer tube type is recommended.

Handling

At this length and weight, the Ikazuchi is easy to handle in buildings and woodland alike. The 190-round high-capacity magazine gives plenty of shots between reloads, and the familiar M4-pattern controls make it easy to learn.

Compatibility

Works with M4/M16-series AEG magazines from makers such as Tokyo Marui, G&G and others. The Version 2 gearbox accepts standard V2 upgrade parts. Check that your battery fits the front battery space and uses a small Tamiya connector, or change the plug to suit. The top rail takes standard 20mm optics.

Care and maintenance

Take the battery out of the gun whenever you are not using it, and store LiPo batteries at storage charge in a fire-resistant bag. Never leave a battery charging unattended.

Use good quality, seamless 6mm BBs; cheap or damaged BBs are the most common cause of jams and can damage the hop-up rubber. Run a cleaning rod with a dry patch through the inner barrel every few games, and if a BB jams, clear it with the rod from the muzzle end with the battery removed.

After each game wipe the outside down to remove dirt and moisture, and let the gun dry at room temperature if it has been out in the rain. Turn the hop-up back off when storing it for long periods, and leave the gun on safe and on semi rather than full auto, so the spring is not left compressed.

Who is it for?

The Ikazuchi suits players who want a distinctive-looking rifle built on the dependable, easily upgraded M4 AEG platform, at an affordable price.

Please note: Battery and charger are not included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection and check the power limits at your site before play.
