Description
Kel-Tec RDB17 Bullpup AEG Rifle (By EMG – Ares – Blue – AR-068E)
The Kel-Tec RDB17 is an officially licensed electric bullpup rifle, produced by Ares under the EMG licensing banner and carrying authentic Kel-Tec markings. This version is finished in blue, so it really stands out from the usual black and tan rifles on a site. The RDB’s angular, modern bullpup design places the magazine behind the pistol grip, giving you a long barrel in a short, handy package that moves easily through buildings and woodland alike.
Ares is known for innovative electric rifles, and the RDB17 brings its electronic gearbox technology to an unusual and eye-catching platform. It suits players who want something different from the standard M4 and AK, without giving up M4 magazine compatibility.
Build and materials
The outer body is nylon fibre, keeping weight sensible while staying tough, with a metal outer barrel and gas assembly. The rifle is around 695mm long and weighs roughly 3kg. Its controls are ambidextrous, including the magazine release and fire selector, and it ejects downwards in the style of the original, which makes it comfortable to shoot from either shoulder. A mock adjustable gas block adds to the realism.
Performance and internals
The gearbox uses a proprietary shell and is compatible with Ares’s E.F.C.S. electronic fire control system. It is fully reinforced, with 8mm bushings and bearings, a built-in MOSFET, a microswitch trigger and a quick spring change system, and it is LiPo ready and programmable. A long-type high-torque motor drives it, and fire modes are safe, semi and full auto. The 420mm inner barrel and rotary adjustable hop-up help give long, flat shots for a rifle of this size.
The battery goes in the handguard, which has plenty of space; an 11.1V LiPo butterfly-type battery is recommended, with a Deans connector.
Handling and customisation
An upper rail takes optics and accessories, and a lower handguard rail takes grips and bipods. The outer barrel has a 14mm negative thread for muzzle devices. One handling point is worth knowing: do not let the charging handle slam forward under spring tension, as this can break it, and that is not covered under warranty. Ease it forward by hand instead.
