Description
KWA AKR-74M AEG3 (Full Metal – Black – 106-00703)
The KWA AKR-74M is a full metal airsoft electric rifle modelled on the AK-74M, the modern Russian service rifle with its distinctive polymer furniture and side-folding stock. KWA is a Taiwanese manufacturer with a long-standing reputation for engineering quality, and the AKR-74M combines a robust metal build with KWA’s own AEG 3 gearbox and ERG recoil system.
The result is a Kalashnikov that feels solid in the hand and lively on the trigger, with a realistic kick on every shot and a magazine cut-off that stops the rifle firing when it runs dry. It is a strong choice for players who want an AK that will keep going game after game, and for milsim players building an authentic modern Russian loadout.
Build and materials
The rifle uses full metal alloy construction for the main body, giving it the rigidity and weight you would expect from an AK. The handguard is high-impact polymer, matching the look of the AK-74M’s black furniture while remaining tough and light. The side-folding stock folds to shorten the rifle for transport or close-quarters use, and the receiver carries the traditional AK side mount for optics and accessories designed for AK-pattern rifles.
Performance and internals
At the heart of the rifle is KWA’s AEG 3 gearbox, which uses a reinforced metal shell, 9mm ball bearing bushings, case-hardened precision metal gears and a heavy-duty spring. An upgraded high-torque motor drives it, and a switch life extender reduces wear on the trigger contacts. The rotary hop-up allows you to adjust backspin for the BB weight you are using. Fire modes are safe, semi and full auto, selected with the classic AK lever.
ERG recoil and magazine cut-off
KWA’s ERG (electric recoil) system, part of its patented Kinetic Feedback System, produces a recoil impulse every time you pull the trigger, adding realism and making the rifle more engaging to shoot. A mechanical and electrical cut-off works with the magazine to feed every BB and stop the gun when the magazine is empty, just like a real rifle, prompting you to reload instead of dry-firing. ERG-compatible magazines are recommended to get full use of the cut-off.

Compatibility
The rifle takes AK-style AEG magazines. Many standard AK magazines will feed, but KWA ERG magazines are recommended so the empty-magazine cut-off works correctly. The side mount accepts AK side-rail optic mounts. The AEG 3 gearbox is KWA’s own design, so please check compatibility before ordering internal upgrade parts.
Care and maintenance
Disconnect the battery after every game and store it separately. Use good quality seamless BBs to protect the hop-up and barrel, and clean the inner barrel periodically with a rod and lightly dampened patch, then dry it. Wipe the metal down with a lightly oiled cloth after wet days to protect the finish. Leave gearbox work to a competent technician.
Who is it for?
The AKR-74M suits players who want a durable, realistic AK with genuine recoil feedback, and milsim players looking for a reliable rifle for modern Russian or Eastern European impressions.
Please note: Battery and charger are not included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection and check your site’s power limits before play.
