Description
Laylax Prometheus EG Barrel for M4 PMC (6.03mm – 185mm)
This is a Prometheus EG precision inner barrel, 6.03mm tight bore and 185mm long, listed for the M4 PMC. At 185mm it is a short barrel for a compact, CQB-sized M4, giving a small rifle a quality bore without changing its overall size.
Prometheus is LayLax’s internal upgrade line, and the EG barrel series is one of its best-known products, offered in a wide spread of lengths so that each replica can take a barrel made for it.
Build
EG barrels are made from stainless steel, and LayLax quotes a bore tolerance of plus or minus 0.01mm for the series. Stainless steel is hard and resists corrosion and bending, so the bore stays straight and smooth for longer than a soft brass or aluminium barrel.
A short barrel has very little length to steady the BB, so the hop-up and the quality of the bore do most of the work. Pairing the EG barrel with a fresh bucking and a careful hop-up setting is the best way to help a compact M4 shoot consistently.
How a tight bore helps
A 6.03mm tight bore leaves a slightly smaller gap around the BB than a standard barrel. Less air escapes past the BB, which helps efficiency and shot-to-shot consistency.
Fitting
Remove the upper receiver, hop-up unit and original barrel. Transfer the bucking or fit a new one, keeping its lip even and its window lined up, then reassemble and set the hop gradually.

Compatibility
This barrel is listed for the M4 PMC. Hop-up units and barrel lengths vary between makers and models, so please check your replica’s original barrel length and hop-up type, or contact us, before ordering.
Care and maintenance
Clean the bore every few games with a cleaning rod and a dry or very lightly oiled patch, and finish dry. Use good quality seamless BBs of a consistent weight, as dirty or damaged BBs are the main cause of jams in tight bore barrels, and keep oil off the hop-up rubber.
If you are not confident working on your replica, have the part fitted by an experienced technician.
Who is it for?
It is for owners of a compact M4 PMC who want a straight, precise and durable barrel to help a short CQB rifle shoot more consistently.
Please note: Only the inner barrel is supplied. The hop-up rubber and tools are not included.
