Description
Laylax Prometheus POM Piston Head for Tokyo Marui Next Generation New Ver.2
This Prometheus piston head is made from POM and listed for the Tokyo Marui Next Generation New Ver.2 gearbox. The piston head is the part that seals against the inside of the cylinder and pushes air through the nozzle on every shot, so its fit and seal have a direct effect on power and consistency.
LayLax is a long-established Japanese maker of airsoft parts, with sub-brands including Prometheus for internal upgrades, Nine Ball for gas pistol parts and First Factory for external and replacement parts.
Why POM
POM (polyoxymethylene, often called acetal) is a tough, slippery engineering plastic. Laylax says the material helps lubrication, and it is widely used for piston heads because it runs smoothly in the cylinder without the weight of a metal head.
Laylax describes its POM NEO piston heads as giving an excellent air seal and efficiency, with ball bearings that help resist torsion when the spring is compressed, and an exhaust design that makes full use of the cylinder’s air volume. Laylax recommends that range for low rate springs or high cycle builds. Please check the product images to confirm the exact design of this Next Generation version.
Fitting
Tokyo Marui Next Generation gearboxes have their own layout and recoil system, so work carefully and follow a good exploded diagram. Fit the head to the piston securely, check the O-ring seats evenly, and apply a light coat of suitable grease to the O-ring before reassembly.
If you are not confident working on your replica, have the part fitted by an experienced technician.

Compatibility
This piston head is listed for the Tokyo Marui Next Generation New Ver.2 gearbox. Next Generation parts are not always interchangeable with standard Version 2 gearbox parts, and the piston, head and cylinder need to work together. Spare parts are often specific to one manufacturer, and sometimes to one production version, so please compare this part with the one you are replacing, or contact us with your replica’s make and model, before ordering.
Care and maintenance
Check the O-ring for nicks and flat spots whenever the gearbox is open, and replace it if it is worn. Use a thin film of suitable grease in the cylinder rather than a heavy coat, which can be pushed through the nozzle onto the hop-up rubber.
Always test the replica with no BBs loaded after fitting, and have it chronographed before play.
Who is it for?
It suits owners and technicians of Tokyo Marui Next Generation AEGs who want a better air seal, or need to replace a worn piston head during a rebuild.
Please note: The piston, O-ring grease and tools are not included.
