Description
Laylax Prometheus Straight Casing Flat Hop-Up Bucking (Soft – Blue)
This Prometheus hop-up bucking is a flat hop design for straight casing hop-up chambers, in the soft blue version. The bucking, or hop-up rubber, sits at the start of the inner barrel and puts backspin on each BB, so it is one of the most important parts for range and accuracy in any AEG.
LayLax is a long-established Japanese maker of airsoft parts, with sub-brands including Prometheus for internal upgrades, Nine Ball for gas pistol parts and First Factory for external and replacement parts.
How flat hop works
A conventional bucking has a single small bump that presses on the BB. A flat hop design uses a broader, flatter contact patch, so the BB is gripped more evenly and over a longer area. Many players find that gives more consistent spin, particularly with heavier BBs.
Prometheus buckings of this type are described as made from an extra soft material aimed at improving hop consistency and accuracy. A soft rubber grips the BB well and suits lower to moderate power builds, while harder versions are generally chosen for stronger springs.
Fitting
Fit the bucking onto the inner barrel so the window lines up with the barrel’s hop window and the rubber sits square with no twist. A flat hop bucking works with a nub or tensioner shaped for flat hop, so check which one your chamber uses. Fit the barrel back into the chamber, then set the hop gradually at a safe backstop.
If you are not confident working on your replica, have the part fitted by an experienced technician.

Compatibility
This bucking is listed for straight casing hop-up chambers and is commonly used in Tokyo Marui-style AEG hop units. Chambers and inner barrels vary between makers, so please check your hop unit, and the nub or tensioner it uses, before ordering, or contact us with your replica’s make and model.
Care and maintenance
Keep the bucking clean and free of oil. If the hop becomes inconsistent, take the barrel out and wipe the inside of the rubber with a dry cotton bud. Use only clean, seamless BBs, and store spare buckings in a sealed bag away from heat and sunlight so the rubber does not harden.
Have the replica chronographed after any change to the hop-up.
Who is it for?
It is for AEG owners and technicians who want to try flat hop for more consistent spin, especially in builds running at moderate power.
Please note: The inner barrel, nub or tensioner and tools are not included.
