The MOA Survival Scope 3-9×40 is a variable magnification rifle scope supplied with 11mm mounts. A 3-9×40 is one of the most popular and versatile scope sizes, and it suits air rifles, bolt-action airsoft rifles and DMRs alike. This scope is a straightforward, practical choice for target shooting, plinking and marksman roles.
Understanding 3-9×40
The first numbers, 3-9x, are the magnification range: at 3x, objects appear three times closer, and at 9x, nine times closer. The 40 is the diameter of the objective (front) lens in millimetres. A larger objective lets more light in, giving a brighter image, especially in woodland shade or early and late in the day.
For most airsoft and air rifle use, a lower setting is often the most useful, as it gives a wider view and makes moving targets easier to follow. Turn the magnification up when you need to check a target or take a careful shot.
Mounting and zeroing
Fit the scope so that it sits at a comfortable height and distance from your eye, with the full image visible when you shoulder the rifle naturally. Tighten the mount screws evenly. Then zero the scope by firing groups at your usual distance and adjusting the turrets until the point of aim matches the point of impact.

Compatibility
The 11mm mounts are designed for 11mm dovetail rails, which are common on air rifles and some airsoft replicas. They will not clamp directly onto a 20mm Picatinny or Weaver rail, which is the standard on most airsoft rifles; for those you will need 20mm scope rings or an 11mm-to-20mm adaptor. Check the rail on your rifle before ordering.
Care and maintenance
Keep the lenses clean with a soft lens cloth or lens pen, and blow away grit before wiping so you do not scratch the coatings. Fit lens caps or a cover when the scope is not in use, and avoid touching the glass with your fingers.
Check the mount screws before each game, as a loose mount will shift your zero. If the scope gets wet, let it dry naturally at room temperature rather than on a heater, and store it somewhere dry.
