A pack of five gas shells for the PPS M870 shotgun. PPS makes gas-powered, shell-ejecting M870-style shotguns, and on these each shell carries its own charge of gas as well as the BBs, so having plenty of shells is what lets you keep shooting.
Spare shells are close to essential with a shell-ejecting shotgun: shells fly out of the action as you work it and some will inevitably be lost in the undergrowth. A five-pack gives you more pre-filled shells to carry and replacements for the ones that go missing.
How gas shells work
Each shell is filled with gas and loaded with BBs before the game. When you fire, the gas in the shell propels the BBs, and when you pump the action the empty shell is ejected, just like a real shotgun. Retailer listings for PPS’s plastic M870 gas shells give a capacity of three BBs per shell and list green gas, top gas or 134a as suitable gases; please check your shotgun’s manual for the recommended gas.
On the field
Keep filled shells in a shell holder or pouch where you can reach them quickly. Because the shells eject, get into the habit of collecting them after each engagement or at the end of the game, and carry more than you think you need.

Compatibility
Made for the PPS M870 gas shotgun series. Gas shells are specific to their shotgun system, so they will not work in other makers’ shotguns. Use airsoft gas only, never lighter fluid or butane.
Care and maintenance
Put a small drop of silicone oil on each shell’s fill valve and seals from time to time to keep them supple, and fill with short bursts rather than holding the gas can on the valve. Wipe ejected shells clean before refilling, as dirt on the shell or valve can cause leaks or misfeeds.
Store shells somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight, and with no BBs left in them.
