Description
PTS MEC Hop Up Bucking AEG Version 2-Pack (Black & Purple)
This is a twin pack of MEC hop-up rubbers for AEGs from PTS, with one black and one purple rubber. The hop-up rubber puts backspin on each BB as it leaves the chamber, so it has a big effect on range, accuracy and consistency. A good rubber is one of the cheapest and most worthwhile upgrades you can make to an electric rifle.
With two hardnesses in the pack, you can pick the rubber that suits your set-up and the season, and keep the other as a spare or for a second rifle.
Black or purple
PTS lists the black rubber as 60 degrees and the purple as 70 degrees. The softer black rubber is intended for cool or cold weather, when standard rubbers can harden and lose their grip on the BB. The firmer purple rubber is aimed at high-velocity builds and heavier BBs, with more durability and lifting power.
In practice, many players run the softer rubber in winter and the firmer one in summer, or choose by the BB weight they prefer.
Design
PTS describes a dual-point contact design that puts two equal pressure points on the BB to correct drift and give a flatter, more stable flight path, and a tighter seal against the nozzle and inner barrel to reduce velocity inconsistency. Each rubber is listed as about 1.6 x 1cm and about 1g.

Compatibility
PTS describes it as a drop-in upgrade for most standard AEG hop-up units. Tokyo Marui Next Generation rifles, gas replicas and some brands use different hop-up designs, so check your chamber before ordering. A separate GBB version is available for gas replicas.
Care and maintenance
Fit the rubber carefully so it sits square in the chamber with no twists, and make sure the barrel window lines up with the nub. Do not use petroleum-based oil on hop-up rubbers; if you lubricate anything, use a tiny amount of silicone oil and wipe away the excess.
Clean the barrel and rubber now and then with a cleaning rod and a dry or lightly oiled patch, and use good quality seamless BBs, as dirty or damaged BBs wear the rubber and spoil consistency. After fitting, start with the hop-up turned off and increase it gradually until shots fly flat.
Who is it for?
This pack suits AEG owners who want an easy, affordable improvement in range and consistency, and players who like to switch rubbers between summer and winter.
