Description
PTS MEC Hop Up Bucking GBB Version 2-Pack (Black & Purple)
This twin pack contains two MEC hop-up rubbers for gas blowback replicas, one black and one purple, from PTS. The hop-up rubber is what puts backspin on the BB, so it has a direct effect on range, accuracy and how consistent your shots are. Swapping in a better rubber is one of the cheapest and most effective upgrades for a GBB.
Having two hardnesses in one pack means you can choose the right rubber for your set-up and the weather, or keep the second as a spare.
Two hardnesses
PTS lists the black rubber as 60 degrees and the purple as 70 degrees. The softer black rubber is described for standard set-ups and for cooler weather, when rubbers tend to stiffen. The firmer purple rubber is described for heavier BBs and higher-powered gas or CO2 set-ups.
If you are unsure which to start with, the softer rubber is usually the safer first choice for a standard pistol or rifle, moving to the firmer one if you find you need more hop for heavier BBs.
Design
According to PTS, the rubber has a narrowed, precision-moulded entrance that fits the nozzle more tightly, and extra coverage over the barrel’s cut-out to reduce air leakage. Inside, the contact patch gives two balanced pressure points on the BB, which PTS says helps keep backspin stable for a flatter flight path.

Care and maintenance
Fit the rubber carefully so it sits square in the chamber with no twists, and make sure the barrel window lines up with the nub. Do not use petroleum-based oil on hop-up rubbers; if you lubricate anything, use a tiny amount of silicone oil and wipe away the excess.
Clean the barrel and rubber now and then with a cleaning rod and a dry or lightly oiled patch, and use good quality seamless BBs, as dirty or damaged BBs wear the rubber and spoil consistency. After fitting, start with the hop-up turned off and increase it gradually until shots fly flat.
Who is it for?
This pack is for GBB pistol and rifle owners, particularly those with Tokyo Marui, TM-spec or VFC-made replicas, who want better consistency and range from a simple upgrade.
