Signs it needs replacing
If gas hisses out of the base of the magazine when you fill it, if the magazine will not hold gas overnight, or if the valve leaks after the nozzle of the gas can is removed, the charging valve or its seal is a common cause. A damaged or bent valve stem can also stop the magazine filling at all.
Before replacing the valve, try a few drops of silicone oil in the valve and a careful fill; a dry seal sometimes recovers. If the leak continues, replacement is the reliable fix.
Fitting
Fully empty the magazine of gas before working on it, and never attempt to remove a valve from a magazine that still holds gas. A proper valve key or a suitable tool is needed so that the valve is not damaged. Fit the new valve snugly without over-tightening, then test with a small fill and listen for leaks.

Care and maintenance
Keep magazines clean and lightly lubricated: a drop of silicone oil on the fill valve and gas route seals every few fills keeps the seals supple and helps prevent leaks. Do not use petroleum-based oils, which can damage rubber seals.
Store gas magazines with a small amount of gas in them to keep the seals seated, never fully loaded with BBs, and away from heat. Do not overfill, and use the gas type recommended for your pistol.
