Description
T&D 1 Teeth Full Steel Piston with Cylinder Head
This T&D item is a full steel AEG piston, listed with a head included. Its listing name describes it as “1 Teeth”, which is not a standard tooth count for an AEG piston, so please check the product images carefully to see the tooth arrangement before ordering, or ask us if you are not sure it suits your gearbox.
T&D produces affordable gearbox parts for AEG technicians and home builders. A full steel piston is the toughest kind of piston you can fit, and it suits builds with strong springs or high rates of fire, where standard polymer or part-metal pistons tend to strip their teeth.
Why steel
The piston is pulled back against the main spring by the sector gear on every shot, and its teeth carry that whole load. A steel piston resists stripping far better than polymer pistons, at the cost of extra weight, which means more work for the motor. That makes it a choice for heavy-duty, high-power builds rather than lightweight ones.
The number and position of teeth on a piston must suit the sector gear and the set-up of your gearbox, so matching it to your existing piston is essential.
Fitting
Fitting a piston means opening the gearbox, so it is best done by someone with AEG experience. Fully decock the gearbox first and take care with the spring. While it is apart, check the cylinder, cylinder head and nozzle for air seal, and set the angle of engagement so the sector gear picks up the first tooth cleanly.
Key features
- Full steel AEG piston
- Listed with a head included
- Highly resistant to stripping
- Suits high-strength builds
- Check images for tooth arrangement
- Affordable T&D gearbox part
Compatibility
Most AEG pistons are broadly interchangeable between common gearbox versions, but length, tooth layout and head fit vary, and a full steel piston is much heavier than a standard one. Check that the piston suits your gearbox version, sector gear and spring, and compare it with your existing piston before ordering. A heavy steel piston usually needs a capable motor and a properly shimmed gearbox.
Care and maintenance
Lightly grease the teeth and the piston rails with a suitable gearbox grease, and keep grease off the piston head O-ring and the cylinder walls, where too much collects dirt. Check the first and last teeth and the sector gear for wear every time the gearbox is open.
Correct any angle of engagement problems before running the gearbox hard, and store your AEG with the battery removed.
Who is it for?
This piston is for experienced AEG technicians who have checked the tooth arrangement against their gearbox and need a full steel piston for a heavy-duty build.
Please note: Gearbox, spring and cylinder are not included. Have gearbox work carried out by someone experienced if you are unsure.
