AT A GLANCE

Product overview

This T&D spring guide is designed for Version 3 AEG gearboxes and has bearings built into its base. The spring guide sits at the back of the gearbox, holding the main spring in line and giving it something solid to push against. Adding bearings lets the spring rotate freely as it is compressed and released, rather than twisting and binding, which is one of the most common basic upgrades for an AEG.

Description

T&D V3 Spring Guide with Bearings

This T&D spring guide is designed for Version 3 AEG gearboxes and has bearings built into its base. The spring guide sits at the back of the gearbox, holding the main spring in line and giving it something solid to push against. Adding bearings lets the spring rotate freely as it is compressed and released, rather than twisting and binding, which is one of the most common basic upgrades for an AEG.

T&D makes affordable gearbox parts for AEG technicians and home builders. A bearing spring guide is a sensible part to fit whenever you have a V3 gearbox open, whether you are fitting a new spring, changing the power or building an upgraded gun from scratch.

Why fit a bearing spring guide

When the piston is pulled back the spring twists slightly as it compresses. On a basic spring guide that twist can be passed on to the piston and gears, adding friction and wear. A bearing at the base of the guide allows the spring to rotate instead, which smooths the cycle and helps keep shot-to-shot consistency.

Many stock spring guides are also made of plastic and can crack or deform over time, especially with stronger springs. Fitting a dedicated replacement removes that weak point.

Fitting

Fitting the guide means opening the gearbox, so it is best done by someone with AEG experience. Always fully decock the gearbox and take great care with the spring when splitting the shell. Use a little grease on the guide where the spring rides, and check that the guide sits squarely in its slot before closing the gearbox.

Key features

  • Spring guide for Version 3 AEG gearboxes
  • Built-in bearings at the base
  • Lets the spring rotate freely as it compresses
  • Helps reduce friction, twist and wear
  • Replaces worn or plastic stock spring guides
  • A common, low-cost gearbox upgrade

Compatibility

Made for Version 3 gearboxes, which are found in many AK-style AEGs and some other replicas. It will not fit V2, V6 or V7 gearboxes. Check which gearbox your replica uses before ordering.

Some V3 gearboxes, particularly quick-change spring designs, use their own spring guide arrangement, so compare the part with your existing guide before stripping the gun.

Care and maintenance

Inspect the spring guide whenever you have the gearbox open, and replace it if the bearing feels rough or the base shows cracks. Keep it lightly greased where it contacts the spring.

To prolong spring life, fire one semi-auto shot into a safe area at the end of a game day to release spring tension, and store the AEG with the battery removed.

Who is it for?

This spring guide is for AEG technicians and home builders working on a Version 3 gearbox who want a simple, reliable upgrade over a standard guide.

Please note: This is a gearbox part only; no spring or other parts are included.

Airsoft replica or accessory only, as described. For help choosing compatible equipment, contact OnlyAirsoft.
