Tokyo Marui Scorpion Mod.M (AEG, Black/Gold)
The Tokyo Marui Mod.M is a modernised version of the classic Vz.61 Scorpion machine pistol, built as a compact electric sub-machine gun. Tokyo Marui has taken the well-known Scorpion and given it a contemporary makeover, with a hybrid railed and M-Lok handguard, a side-folding stock and a Picatinny rail for optics. This version is finished in black with gold accents, which give it a striking, custom look.
Tokyo Marui is the Japanese manufacturer behind many of the most respected airsoft designs, and its replicas are known for their consistency, accuracy and reliability straight out of the box. The Mod.M brings that quality to a tiny, light package that is ideal for CQB, as a sidearm-sized primary, or as a fun, characterful SMG for any loadout.
Design and build
The upper receiver, stock, pistol grip, handguard and M-Lok rails are high-density polymer, while the outer barrel, muzzle device, lower receiver, stock base and controls are alloy, with a steel trigger guard. At around 1.3kg it is light enough to carry all day and quick to bring into the aim. With the stock folded it is about 34cm long, extending to around 57cm with the stock out.
The handguard is a hybrid design, with 20mm rails on the top and bottom and M-Lok slots on the sides; three M-Lok-to-20mm rail adapters are supplied so you can fit a torch, laser or grip where you like. A 20mm Picatinny rail on the top rear of the receiver takes a red dot or holographic sight.
Performance
The Mod.M uses a 180mm, 6.08mm inner barrel with a rotary hop-up adjuster and a V-shaped hop-up nub, reached through the ejection port by pulling back the charging handle. A 0.25g BB is a good starting point. The 6-inch outer barrel has a 14mm counter-clockwise thread under a removable muzzle device, ready for a mock suppressor or tracer unit.
Power comes from a 7.2V NiMH battery with an AEP connector, housed in the pistol grip and accessed by turning the baseplate catch. Either a 7.2V AEP pistol battery, using the adapter supplied, or a 7.2V AEP SMG-type battery can be used.
Handling
The side-folding stock is MP9-style: press the hinge button to fold it to the right, where it locks onto a hook on the handguard, and press the button on the butt plate to unfold it. The stock has two positions. The fire selector is marked 0, 1 and 20 for safe, semi and full auto, and is extended for use with gloves. There is an ambidextrous charging handle with an extended left-side handle, a push-button magazine release on the left, a ribbed grip and a flat-faced trigger.

Compatibility
Takes Tokyo Marui and Jing Gong Vz.61 AEP magazines, including the drum magazine. Use a 7.2V AEP-type battery: a Tokyo Marui-style AEP pistol battery with the supplied adapter, or an SMG-type AEP battery. The receiver rail and handguard rails accept standard 20mm accessories, and the 14mm counter-clockwise thread suits most mock suppressors and tracer units.
Care and maintenance
Remove the battery from the grip after each game, and recharge NiMH batteries with a suitable smart charger; never leave a battery charging unattended. Use good quality seamless 6mm BBs, and run a cleaning rod with a dry patch through the short inner barrel every few games. Wipe the gun down after use, let it dry at room temperature if it has been rained on, and store it on safe with the magazine removed.
