WE M&P Hammer Set
This is a replacement hammer set from WE for its M&P series gas blowback pistols. The hammer is a key part of a gas blowback pistol’s firing system: when you pull the trigger, the hammer is released and strikes the valve in the magazine, letting out the burst of gas that fires the BB and cycles the slide.
WE Tech is one of the best known gas blowback manufacturers, and its M&P pistols are popular sidearms for skirmish and practical shooting. A worn, chipped or broken hammer can cause light strikes, inconsistent shots or a pistol that will not fire at all, so a replacement set is a useful spare for regular users.
Signs you may need a new hammer
Hammers take a lot of punishment with every shot. Over time the striking face can wear or chip and the notches that hold the hammer back can round off. Common symptoms include the hammer following the slide down, the pistol firing with weak or inconsistent gas output, or the hammer not staying cocked. Before replacing parts, it is worth ruling out other causes such as a low magazine, a leaking valve or a dirty frame.
Fitting
Replacing a hammer involves stripping the pistol’s frame and fire control group, which includes small springs and pins that are easy to lose. It is best done by someone experienced with gas blowback pistols or by an airsoft technician. Work on a clean, well-lit surface, take photos as you go and keep track of each part.
