WE STANAG Magazine Top Valve (163)
This is a replacement top valve for WE STANAG (M4-pattern rifle) gas magazines. WE (WE-Tech) builds a wide range of gas blowback replicas, and its magazines are designed to be serviced with individual spare parts, so a single worn valve does not have to mean a new magazine. WE’s STANAG gas magazines feed its M4-pattern gas blowback rifles. This valve is listed as part 163.
The top valve sits at the top of the magazine. Each time the replica fires, the hammer or valve knocker strikes the valve and releases a measured burst of gas that pushes the BB down the barrel and cycles the action. Because it is struck on every shot, it works harder than almost any other part of the magazine.
Signs the top valve needs replacing
Typical symptoms include gas hissing from the top of the magazine when it is not in the replica, a magazine that empties itself overnight even though the fill valve is sound, sluggish blowback, or shots that vary noticeably in power. If the valve stem is bent, sticking, or the valve does not close cleanly after being pressed, it is time for a replacement.
Fitting
Make sure the magazine is completely empty of gas before you begin. Output valves are usually screwed into the top of the magazine body and are removed with a valve key or a suitable tool; on some magazines the feed lip or other parts must be removed first to reach the valve. Note how everything comes apart, keep the parts together, and refit in the reverse order. Tighten the new valve firmly without forcing it, refill and check for leaks before use.

Care and maintenance
To keep your magazines sealing well, put a drop of silicone oil on the fill valve and on the top of the magazine every few games, use the gas recommended for your replica, and do not overfill. Storing magazines with a small amount of gas inside helps keep the seals supple between games. Keep magazines out of direct sunlight and away from heat.
