Description

S&T Type 96 AEG (Black)

The S&T Type 96 is an electric airsoft replica of the Type 96, the 1930s light machine gun recognisable by its curved top-mounted magazine, finned barrel, carry handle and folding bipod. This black version brings one of the most distinctive support weapons of its era to the airsoft field.

S&T is known for replicating unusual and historic firearms that other makers overlook, and its Type 96 is a striking choice for WWII-themed events, historical reenactment and anyone who wants a support weapon with real character.

Design and handling

The original Type 96 fed from a curved box magazine mounted on top of the receiver, with the sights offset to the side so the shooter could aim past it. The replica keeps that unmistakable look, along with the finned barrel and carry handle, and the folding bipod gives a stable firing position when you settle in behind cover.

As a light machine gun, it is a long, purposeful piece. It works best in a support role, laying down fire from a fixed position to cover your team’s advance.

Electric operation

The Type 96 is electric, so it runs from a rechargeable battery rather than gas, keeping performance consistent whatever the weather and running costs low. Set the hop-up for your chosen BB weight before play, starting from zero and adding a little at a time.

Please check the product images and the manual for the magazine type, battery space and fire modes of this model, as historical replicas often have their own layouts.

Historical and themed play

Period replicas are at their best at themed events, where kit and weapons from the same era create a more immersive game. The Type 96 is a memorable centrepiece for a WWII Pacific-theatre impression. Check with your site whether support weapons have specific rules, such as minimum engagement distances or semi-only requirements.

A sling or a dedicated case makes a long support weapon much easier to carry between game zones, and setting up the bipod before a game helps you deploy it quickly when you reach your position.

Compatibility

Use magazines made for the S&T Type 96, as top-feeding LMG magazines are specific to the model. Check the battery space and connector against the manual before buying a battery, and ask us if you are unsure which pack suits.

Care and maintenance

Take the battery out after every game and store it away from the rifle, and charge LiPo batteries only on a proper balance charger under supervision. Clean the inner barrel with a cleaning rod and a dry cloth patch every few games, as dirt and broken BB fragments are the main causes of flyers. Stick to good quality seamless BBs of a consistent weight.

Check screws, the flash hider and any mounts before each game day, and store the rifle somewhere dry. Leave the hop-up at a light setting in storage, and if the rifle has an electronic trigger unit, a fully charged battery helps it read the trigger cleanly.

Who is it for?

The S&T Type 96 suits WWII reenactors and themed-event players, collectors of historic replicas and support gunners who want a weapon nobody else on the field will have.

Please note: A battery and charger are not named in this listing, so please check with us before ordering. Always wear suitable eye and face protection when using or testing any airsoft replica. Check your site’s rules on support weapons before play.
