Description
Amoeba by Ares Mutant AMM9 EFCS AEG (Tan – AM-M-003-DE)
The Amoeba Mutant AMM9 is a modular electric rifle (AEG) from Ares with the EFCS electronic gearbox, finished in tan (dark earth), code AM-M-003-DE. It is the longer of the two Mutant models in our range, and we also list it in black (AM-M-003-BK).
Published specifications give the AMM9 a length of around 680 to 750mm depending on the stock setting and a weight of around 2.44kg, so it is still a light rifle while offering a little more length than the AMM7 for woodland and mixed sites. Amoeba is Ares’ sports-focused range, designed around practical, lightweight rifles that are easy to maintain. The Mutant series is built on a modular concept: published specifications describe the outer barrel assembly, complete with inner barrel and hop-up, as quick to swap for a longer or shorter version by removing a retaining pin and two screws, so one rifle can be reconfigured for different sites.
Compatibility
The Mutant series accepts Ares and Amoeba M4 AEG magazines as well as standard M4 AEG magazines, so spares are easy to find and you may already own some. Rails and accessories follow normal M4-style standards. Published specifications for this tan version give the muzzle thread as 14mm CW, while our black-version listing says 14mm CCW, so please check the thread direction before buying a muzzle device. The EFCS gearbox has its own electronics and Ares-specific parts, so ask us before buying internal upgrades.
Care and maintenance
Disconnect and remove the battery after every game, and never store the rifle with the battery plugged in. Charge batteries with a suitable charger, never leave them charging unattended, and store them at a sensible storage charge somewhere cool and dry.
Use good quality seamless 6mm BBs, as poor or damaged BBs are the main cause of jams and hop-up wear. Clean the inner barrel regularly with a cleaning rod and a soft cloth, wipe the outside down after wet or muddy games, and keep the rifle somewhere dry between games.
Who is it for?
Players who want a light, modern AEG with electronic trigger control and a little more length than a compact carbine, and anyone who wants a rifle they can reconfigure for different sites.
Please note: A battery and charger are not listed as included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection when using airsoft replicas, and check your site’s rules and power limits before play.
