Description
Crafty Catcher Drilled Black Halibut 8mm 900g
Crafty Catcher’s Drilled Black Halibut pellets are 8mm pellets with a hole drilled through each one, ready to go straight onto a hair rig. The 900g bag gives you a generous supply of hookbaits, with enough left over to use some as free offerings around your hookbait.
Dark halibut pellets are a classic bait for carp, barbel and tench. They have a rich, oily fishmeal attraction and a natural colour that matches the feed pellets many anglers already use. That makes them a good choice for wary fish, because the hookbait looks just like the rest of the food on the bottom. If you want a hookbait that blends in rather than stands out, this is the one to choose.
Using them on the bank
Thread one or two pellets onto a hair with a baiting needle and lock them in place with a bait stop. The 8mm size is well matched to small and medium hooks, and works particularly well on the Method feeder, where a single drilled pellet sits on a short hair pushed into the mix. Over a bed of loose-fed pellets, a matching dark hookbait gives fish no reason to be suspicious.
They are just as useful on a running lead for barbel on rivers, or under a pellet waggler for carp and F1s on commercial waters. Pellets soften gradually in water, so check your hookbait on long sessions and in warm conditions.
Tips
Some anglers like to lightly glug their hookbaits with a liquid attractor for an extra flavour boost. A short soak is enough, as pellets that are left too long in liquid can become soft. For longer-lasting hookbaits, use them straight from the bag.
