Description
Well M4 L119A2 Gas Blowback Rifle (MWS Compatible, Full Metal, Black, WG16-M-BK)
This is the black version of Well’s M4 L119A2 gas blowback rifle, model WG16-M-BK. It is listed as full metal and MWS compatible. The real L119A2 is a Colt Canada carbine in service with UK special forces and other British units, and its long, slim rail system makes it one of the most recognisable M4 variants around.
As a gas blowback replica, it offers the moving bolt, recoil and sound that make gas rifles so involving to shoot. Black is the classic finish for this carbine and suits almost any loadout, while the M4 layout keeps the controls familiar for anyone who has used an AR-pattern replica before.
Build
The rifle is listed as full metal, which gives a solid, rigid feel and the weight balance of a real carbine. The L119A2’s rail system is long and slim, giving plenty of room for a torch, laser, grip and optic while still being comfortable to hold.
The AR-pattern layout means the fire selector, magazine release, bolt catch and charging handle are all where M4 users expect them. Please check the product images for the exact rail length, stock and sights of this version.
How it works
In a gas blowback rifle the magazine holds both the BBs and the gas. When you pull the trigger, a valve in the magazine releases a measured burst of gas: part of it sends the BB down the barrel, and the rest drives the bolt carrier back, cocking the hammer and picking up the next BB as it returns. The result is a working bolt, felt recoil and a realistic manual of arms that an electric replica cannot match.
Because gas powers the action, performance depends on temperature. Gas rifles are at their best in mild to warm weather, and on cold days the gas pressure drops and the cycle can slow. Keeping spare magazines in an inside pocket between uses, and swapping magazines rather than emptying one in long bursts, helps keep the rifle running consistently.
MWS compatibility
MWS refers to the Tokyo Marui M4 gas blowback system, which has become a common reference point for gas rifles. A rifle built around that layout generally opens up a wide range of MWS-pattern magazines, internal parts and upgrades. Fit between brands is not always perfect, so it is still worth checking individual parts against your rifle before you order them.
For an L119A2 that is a real benefit: the carbine is a popular base for milsim builds, and an MWS-compatible platform gives you more choice when you come to add magazines or upgrade internal parts.
Handling
A gas blowback rifle rewards good technique. Seat each magazine firmly, use the charging handle to chamber the first round, and practise reloading so that changing magazines becomes second nature. The recoil and sound make gas rifles more involving to shoot than most electric replicas, which is why they are so popular with players who enjoy realism and milsim.

Compatibility
Use good quality seamless 6mm BBs and the gas recommended in the manual. Gas blowback rifles need gas magazines made for their own system, so AEG magazines will not fit. Optics, lights, lasers and grips can be fitted to the rails or handguard where there is space; check the product images for the exact layout.
As an MWS-compatible rifle it is designed around MWS-pattern gas magazines; we recommend testing a new brand of magazine before relying on it in a game. M4 optics, grips and slings fit where there is rail space.
Care and maintenance
Keep the bolt carrier and the inside of the receiver lightly lubricated with a suitable silicone-based gas blowback lubricant, and clean the inner barrel now and then with a rod and dry patch. Avoid getting oil on the hop-up rubber, and use only good quality seamless BBs.
Put a drop of silicone oil on each magazine’s fill valve and seals every few fills, store magazines with a little gas in them so the seals stay tight, and never overfill. Store the rifle unloaded with the magazines removed, somewhere dry and away from direct heat or sunlight.
Who is it for?
This rifle is for players who want an L119A2 style carbine with the realism of gas blowback, whether for UK milsim impressions or simply as a dependable, good-looking main rifle.
Please note: The listing does not say what is supplied with the rifle, so please ask about magazines and accessories. Always wear suitable eye protection when using any airsoft replica, and have it chronographed at your site before play.
