Description

S&T TS21 Sar Flat Top AEG (Standard Version – Non-Blowback – Black)

The S&T TS21 SAR Flat Top is a black electric bullpup rifle styled on the TAR-21 family, the compact Israeli bullpup that has become one of the most recognisable modern rifle designs. SAR refers to the standard assault rifle configuration, and the Flat Top upper gives a long, continuous rail for mounting optics.

This is the standard, non-blowback version, so it concentrates on simple, dependable operation rather than simulated recoil. S&T is a Taiwanese manufacturer known for offering an unusually wide range of rifle designs at accessible prices, and its T21 series is a popular way to get into the bullpup format. It suits players who want a full-length barrel in a short, well-balanced rifle that is easy to carry all day.

The bullpup layout

In a bullpup, the magazine and action sit behind the pistol grip rather than in front of it. That puts the full barrel length inside a much shorter overall rifle, so you get the reach of a full-size rifle in a package that handles more like a carbine. The weight sits back towards your shoulder, which makes the rifle feel balanced and easy to hold up on aim for long periods.

Bullpups do take a little getting used to. Magazine changes happen near your shoulder rather than in front of the grip, so it is worth practising reloads before your first game until the movement is automatic. Once learned, the compact layout is a real advantage when moving through buildings, woodland and vehicles.

Flat top rail and sighting

The Flat Top upper replaces a fixed carry-handle style sight with a long top rail. That gives you complete freedom over sighting: a red dot for fast close-range work, a magnifier behind it for longer shots, or a low-power scope for a more deliberate role. Because the bullpup layout puts your eye well back along the receiver, take a moment to set your optic’s position so the eye relief feels natural.

The standard (non-blowback) version keeps things straightforward. There is no extra moving mass to add wear, and all of the battery’s effort goes into firing BBs.

Getting started

Before your first game, charge a suitable battery, load a magazine with good seamless BBs and spend a few minutes setting the hop-up. Start with it turned off, then add a little at a time until the BBs fly flat without climbing at the end of their flight. A two-point sling suits a bullpup well, keeping the rifle close against your body while leaving your hands free at the safe zone.

Key features

  • TAR-21 style bullpup layout from S&T

  • Standard version, non-blowback
  • Full-length barrel in a short overall package
  • Rearward balance that is comfortable to hold on aim
  • Black finish

Compatibility

S&T’s T21 rifles are listed by a European retailer as taking M4/M16-standard AEG magazines (figures quoted for the S&T T21 Carbine Flat Top), which makes spares easy to find; fit varies slightly between brands, so test a new magazine before relying on it. The same listing places the battery in the handguard; check the space and connector before buying a battery, or ask us for a recommendation.

Optics, lights and other accessories that fit standard 20mm rails will mount on the rail sections. 0.20g to 0.25g seamless BBs are a sensible starting point; heavier BBs often suit longer barrels once the hop-up is set.

Care and maintenance

Take the battery out after every game and store it separately, at a sensible storage charge, rather than leaving it connected inside the rifle. If you use LiPo batteries, charge them with a proper balance charger and keep them in a LiPo-safe bag, and never leave them charging unattended.

Run a cleaning rod with a lightly dampened patch through the inner barrel from time to time to remove dirt and residue, which helps keep the hop-up consistent. Use good-quality seamless BBs, never reuse BBs that have been on the ground, and wipe the outside over after damp or muddy games. Leave gearbox work, shimming and spring changes to a competent technician.

Who is it for?

The TS21 SAR Flat Top is for players who want the reach of a full-size rifle in a compact bullpup, from woodland skirmishers to CQB players, and for anyone after a well-known modern design in a straightforward non-blowback AEG.

Please note: Battery, charger and BBs are not listed as included. Always wear suitable eye protection, and full-face protection where your site requires it, when using or testing any airsoft replica.
