The Action Army AAP01, also known as the Assassin, is a gas blowback airsoft pistol designed by Action Army, the Taiwanese company best known for its precision sniper rifle parts and the popular AAC T10 bolt-action rifle. The AAP01 brings the same performance-led approach to pistols, with a distinctive, compact design and internals built around the widely supported 17-series pistol platform. This version is finished in black.

It accepts popular 17-series gas magazines and a large and growing range of upgrade parts and accessories, so it can be built into anything from a lightweight sidearm to a stocked carbine-style setup. Build and materials
The AAP01 combines aluminium alloy with fibre-reinforced polymer, alongside zinc alloy, plastic and steel parts where they are needed. The result is a light pistol, at around 655g, that is still rigid and well put together. Its fixed outer barrel and upper design give it a distinctive look that is quite different from a conventional slide-and-frame pistol.
Performance and internals
As a gas blowback pistol, the AAP01 cycles with each shot, giving felt recoil and a lively, responsive feel. The hop-up is adjustable and uses a VSR-style hop rubber, the same type used in many sniper rifle upgrades, which helps it put BBs where you aim. Hop-up should be set as described in the manual; with no hop applied, BBs can roll out of the barrel. The AAP01 range includes versions that offer semi and full-automatic fire.
Customisation
Action Army offers a folding stock for the AAP01, along with other accessories, letting you turn it into a compact, shoulder-fired setup for CQB. A wide range of aftermarket parts is also available, from barrels and hop-up rubbers to cosmetic upgrades.

Compatibility
The AAP01 accepts standard 17-series gas magazines from Tokyo Marui and WE, including extended 50-round magazines, as well as Action Army’s own magazines. Action Army accessories such as the folding stock fit directly. Many upgrade parts are made specifically for the AAP01, so check the description of any part before you buy.
Care and maintenance
Lubricate magazine seals and fill valves with a drop of silicone oil every few fills, and do not overfill. Store magazines with a small amount of gas inside. Keep moving parts lightly lubricated with silicone oil and wipe the pistol down after use. Clean the barrel occasionally with a rod and dry patch, and use good quality seamless BBs, which make a noticeable difference with a precise hop-up like this one.
