AGM L96 Spring Sniper Rifle (002B – Black)
The AGM L96 in black, model code 002B, is a spring powered bolt-action airsoft sniper rifle based on the British L96 sniper rifle. Its thumbhole stock, long barrel and classic lines make it one of the most recognisable sniper shapes in airsoft, and it has long been a favourite with players stepping into the sniper role for the first time.
Black is the most versatile finish: it works with almost any loadout and can be wrapped in scrim or painted to suit your local terrain. The rifle’s widespread popularity also means there is plenty of support for upgrades when you want more from it.
Construction
The AGM L96 uses a polymer stock and magazine together with an alloy receiver. At around 3.6kg and about 1.1 metres long, it has the weight and length of a serious sniper rifle, which helps it sit steadily on the shoulder or a bipod. It is supplied in two halves with Allen keys for assembly, which also makes it easier to pack for transport.
How it works
Lift and draw back the bolt to cock the spring, then push it forward to chamber a BB. Pulling the trigger releases the piston and fires the shot. There are no batteries, chargers or gas cans involved, so the rifle is ready whenever you are and performs the same whatever the weather.
Setting up for accuracy
The adjustable hop-up allows you to dial in the right amount of backspin for your chosen BB weight. Start low, fire a few shots and increase the hop until BBs fly flat and straight. Heavier, high-grade BBs usually give the best results in a sniper rifle. Once the hop-up is set, zero your optic at your favourite engagement range.
Growing with you
One of the L96’s biggest strengths is the range of parts available, from triggers and cylinders to barrels and hop-up components. Many players start with a stock rifle, learn fieldcraft and then upgrade in steps as their needs become clearer.
Getting started in the sniper role
A good sniper spends far more time watching and moving carefully than shooting. Learn to use cover, move slowly and pick your shots, and work with a teammate who can spot for you. Practise at known distances so you learn how your BBs drop and drift in the wind, and keep a notebook of your hop-up and zero settings for different BB weights.

Compatibility
Uses AGM L96-pattern magazines. When buying upgrade parts, check they are listed for AGM or compatible L96 rifles, as tolerances vary between brands. Fit a scope with appropriate rings, and use quality 6mm BBs.
Care and maintenance
Never store the rifle cocked. Keep the inner barrel clean, particularly if BBs have been dropped in dirt, and only use clean, seamless BBs. After wet games, dry the rifle thoroughly before putting it away, and transport it in a padded case.
