Description
A&K M249 MK2 with Sound Control Drum Magazine (Hard Stock – Black – AK-M249-MK2-P)
The A&K M249 MK2 is a full-size electric airsoft replica of the M249 light machine gun, in black with a fixed hard stock. This package includes A&K’s sound control magazine, which winds automatically as you fire, so you can lay down long bursts of suppressing fire without stopping to wind.
A&K is one of the best-known names in airsoft support weapons, and its M249-family replicas have been a staple of support gunners for years. They are known for being robust, straightforward to run and easy to maintain. The MK2 is a heavy, solid support gun for players who want the full M249 experience, from the feel of the metal receiver to the weight on the bipod.
Build and materials
The receiver, barrel assembly, feed cover and bipod are metal, with nylon fibre used for parts such as the handguard and stock. Suppliers list the weight at around 6kg, which helps keep the gun steady when firing from the bipod or the hip.
The MK2 has adjustable front and rear sights and a Picatinny top rail for mounting an optic. The steel folding bipod deploys quickly when you settle into a firing position, and the hard stock gives a solid, consistent shoulder position.
Performance and internals
The gearbox is reinforced metal with 8mm bearings and heavy-duty steel gears, and the internals are updated to cope with higher-discharge batteries such as LiPo and Li-ion. The hop-up is adjustable, and the outer barrel thread is listed as 14mm negative.
Fire modes are safe and full auto, which suits the support role perfectly. Short, controlled bursts are usually more effective than holding the trigger down, and they help the gun and battery last longer.
The sound control magazine
The included box magazine uses A&K’s sound control system. Rather than holding a wind button down, the magazine listens for the change in sound as the gun fires and dry fires, and winds itself to keep BBs feeding. It can also be switched to wind continuously. The magazine motor runs on its own small batteries (AA batteries are commonly used), which are not supplied, so fit fresh ones before a game.
Being able to fire long bursts without stopping to wind makes a real difference in a support role, and the large capacity means far fewer trips back to reload. Standard M4/M16 AEG magazines can also be used when you want a lighter, quieter setup for moving around.

Compatibility

Care and maintenance
Remove the main battery and the magazine’s batteries after every game. Keep the inner barrel clean with a rod and patch, as support guns put a lot of BBs through the barrel and dirt builds up quickly. Use good quality, seamless BBs, and do not overfill the box magazine, which can cause jams.
Check the bipod, feed cover and stock screws before each game, and wipe the gun down after muddy or wet days, letting it dry before casing it. Long full-auto strings work the motor and gearbox hard, so give the gun short rests between very long bursts, and have the gearbox serviced by an experienced technician from time to time.
Who is it for?
Dedicated support gunners who want a heavy, authentic full-size M249 with a hard stock and an auto-winding magazine for sustained fire.
Please note: Main battery, charger and magazine batteries are not included. Always wear suitable eye protection when using airsoft replicas.
